ARRA? AARG!

By Johnny Roosh

Barack Obama has a new web site…with some handy graphics too.

Recovery.gov

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will be carried out with full transparency and accountability — and Recovery.gov is the centerpiece of that effort. In a short video, President Obama describes the site and talks about how you’ll be able to track the Recovery Act’s progress every step of the way.

Eight Billion Dollars. Gone.

…all you can offer is “Other“?

Wouldn’t be so bad if they didn’t use words the way Humpty Dumpty did. When he used a word, it did not mean what anybody else thought it meant, the word meant whatever HE wanted it to mean.

So “tax relief” doesn’t mean “relief from paying high taxes” but more like “it’s a relief that other people paid their taxes so I can get this nice check.”

I wish they’d publish a Tic-tionary so the rest of us could keep up.

“I wish they’d publish a Tic-tionary so the rest of us could keep up.”

They do, it was written by Webster long ago. The GOP’s. however, was written by Frank Luntz. The Right is the leader is double speak, so I suggest you be careful what you wish for.

  3. Mr. D Says:

    Frank Luntz

Show of hands here: who on this board gives a flying fig what Frank Luntz says? Anyone? Bueller?

  4. Mr. Shirt Says:

Shouldn’t there be an asterisk next to “protecting the vulnerable, education & training, health care, energy, & other” & why is “science” coupled with “infrastructure” that’s not transparent at all.

  5. flash Says:

Since most of the terms words and phrases, here, are taken right out of his playbook (even I have a copy, it is good stuff), you can deny all you want but it still doesn’t change his influence in Right Wing Double speak.

  6. Mr. D Says:

    Flash,

Many things you say are taken right out of the Saul Alinsky playbook (even I have a copy, it is good stuff), but I don’t for a moment think you are a Saul Alinsky acolyte or that you didn’t come up with your own views independently.

This talking points shtick you are on is really tiresome. It also presupposes a homogeneity of views among the commenters on Mitch and Roosh’s board that doesn’t exist. You hate it when we call you a standard-issue liberal and you always keep your list of apostasies from liberal orthodoxy handy. If you’d pay attention to what people on this board are actually saying, you’d see that there we are heterodox in our views. Terry is very different from Kermit, who is very different from Mr. Shirt, who looks at the world from a different perspective than I do. And I’d wager that none of us are getting talking points from Frank Luntz.

If Mr. D is looking for his smack later he should come back to this thread because he just laid it down here.

  8. Yossarian Says:

What did this Frank Luntz character have to say about the value of toilet humor? That’s what’s important to me.

  9. J. Ewing Says:

Is it just me, or does this chart, website, and the entire Obama schtick completely miss the mark? I don’t give a flying fig where the money “goes.” I want to know two things: First, where did the money COME FROM, and second, WHY did it need to be spent on these things? Any hope that all this “transparency” will tell us what we didn’t already know– that this stimulus is a massive political payoff, using Monopoly money, to socialists near and far, with no interest whatsoever in helping the economy?

  10. Chad The Elder Says:

This is transparency? Could these buckets be any vaguer? How can you lump Infrastructure & Science (which I assume means research) together?

  11. Kermit Says:

I’ve never heard of Frank Luntz. Does he know what the $8 billion for “other” is being spent on? I’m assuming $100 steaks for the next four years, but that’s just a drop in the bucket.

  12. Bike Bubba Says:

If I’m looking for trouble with standard definitions, Obama’s “refundable tax credits” (welfare) being called “tax cuts” certainly qualifies pretty well. Not that the GOP doesn’t pull that stunt from time to time, but yeesh….if you want double-speak, your patron is Obama.

  13. swiftee Says:

Whoa! I interrupt the usual banter to bring you an important message

    http://www.minnpost.com/stories/2009/02/19/6785/stimulus_plan_ties_the_hands_of_reluctant_governors

“WASHINGTON, D.C. — Hidden in President Obama’s massive economic stimulus plan is an unprecedented — but little noticed — provision aimed at keeping Republican governors like Minnesota’s Tim Pawlenty from standing in the way of the $787 billion spending package.

The measure in the legislation, signed into law by Obama on Tuesday, could represent a significant federal intrusion into state government, according to political scholars, and has prompted worries by states’ rights advocates.

Occupying only three paragraphs in legislation that spans more than 1,000 pages, the new law clears the way for an end-run around reluctant governors by requiring governors to accept the federal stimulus funds within 45 days. If the money is not accepted within that time frame, it is passed to the state legislature for certification and release to the state.”

This is no joke, friends. The Democrats are making a full court assault on the Constitution of the United States and those of every state in the union.

Call your state and federal legislators, but especially the stinking Democrats that voted for this and let them know that We The People will not stand for this takeover.

There is nothing more important you have to do than getting your call in today.

  14. Mr. D Says:

Bet that ain’t all that’s hidden in there, Swiftee.

  15. Mr. Shirt Says:

That is truly scary, but even if the state legislature votes to accept the cash, can’t the governor still issue a veto?

  16. Bike Bubba Says:

Hey, this could be a great way of getting the Supreme Court to overturn the whole boondoggle!

  17. swiftee Says:

GWBush certianly didn’t turn out to be the “uniter” he advertised, but at least he didn’t have people digging trenches and filling sandbags.

    It’s America vs. the Obamanation.

  18. K-Rod Says:

The Liberal Fascists (Flush, Assclown, et al) are hoping to change what our Founding Fathers created; resistance is futile; you will be assimilated; all your base are belong to us…

  19. simkeith Says:

$81B for “Protecting the vulnerable”? What the heck is that? Sounds like welfare to me along with a porky mix of community organizing. Hey, I’m feeling a little vulnerable today, how about .01% of that for me? Then I could pay my tax bill that will come ultimately due to this disaster of a “R.A.W. Deal”, where R.A.W. stands for Redistributing America’s Wealth.

  20. jimf Says:

“Right wing double-speak.” Right. Because left wing terms like ‘affirmative action’ mean just what they say, right? What the f–k does “yes action” mean, anyway.
