  2. Yeah, but the 30 who did, really, really, REALLY like it! By the end of the week there could be 31 or 32, racing toward 35 by the end of the month! That’s momentum! It’s time to move on to look at President Obama throwing his political weight behind the $10.10 minimum wage in order to bring wealth and happiness for all. And for those shills that think raising the minimum wage actually hurts jobs, the President has promised, “If you like your minimum wage job, you can keep your minimum wage job!”

  3. This story has been going around the ‘net:

If the media was interested, this would be another example of why Obama is a terrible politician. He’s hamfisted, he’s doesn’t know how to make use of a deft touch. He is ignorant.
Any 1st year poli-sci student knows that you don’t ram through a massive change in public policy (like the ACA) with no support from the other side. They also know that the trick to successful legislation is to screw people who you don’t care about. Raising taxes on the Koch bros. is a no-brainer. Instead Obamacare is screwing over people who might support Obama — or the GOP — while rewarding people who would have voted for Obama and the dems no matter what. It is asinine. It is the opposite of the way operators like FDR and Johnson worked. It is far worse than even GW Bush.
Boomers, including the Boomers that pulled the lever for Obama — are fond of stupid, cliched rules. Remember ‘don’t trust anyone over thirty?’ My favorite is ‘never fight a land war in Asia’, very popular circa 2006. It is just a stupid thing to say. The ancient Greeks and Romans fought many land wars in Asia successfully. More recently the Brits and the Americans did, too (remember Korea?). It’s just one of these stupid Boomer sayings that is supposed to be important because of VIETNAM, the worst, most unjust war ever! And it was all about trying to kill boomers! 4,000,000 dead Vietnamese is a footnote. 50,000 dead American Boomers is a tragedy greater than any in the history of the world!
But real rules, based on sound reasoning and supported by reasoning and empirical evidence, they can’t understand. For Boomers, rules have only one legitimate purpose: to give them what they want.
    Pau rant.
