Junk
By Mitch Berg
Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:
President Obama repeatedly promised that if you like your insurance, you can keep it. Liberals now say he meant you could keep it if it met the requirements of the new law. What are those requirements?
The Affordable Care Act requires every health insurance policy to cover 10 essential categories of services, with details to be approved by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. The essential health benefits package must cover the following general categories of services:
Ambulatory patient services
Emergency services
Hospitalization
Maternity and newborn care
Mental health and substance abuse disorder services, including behavioral health treatment
Prescription drugs
Rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices
Laboratory services
Preventive and wellness services and chronic disease management
Pediatric services, including oral and vision care
Policies that didn’t include all those coverages are being dropped by insurance companies. People are being offered more expensive replacement policies that cover all the services.
Dog Gone echos the new Liberal lie, saying the old policies were “junk policies,” being replaced by newer, better policies, so they’re worth the increased premium.
My wife and I are in our late 50’s. Our children are in their 30’s. We have no need of maternity and newborn care. We have no need of pediatric services. 20% of the policy coverages do us no good but are included in the premiums. Adding more bells and whistles that I cannot use does not add value and does not make the policy worth the extra premium.
Lies, to justify Lies, to explain Lies, to cover up Lies. My grandmother used to say “For shame, for shame, all the dogs in town know your name.”
I’m glad she’s not here to see this.
And she were, she’d be paying for well child visits on her plan…

the maternity, newborn, and pediatric care requirements create a huge wealth transfer from the old to the young. With the current out of wedlock birth rate hoovering at 40%+- this mandated subsidy encourages a practice/behavior that is socially destructive. Look for a boost in crime rates 14 years out.

Joe, the young are being forced to subsidize your health insurance by being forced to buy much more insurance than they need or use. You’re being forced to cover their part of costs by paying for maternity and child care. Can’t we all just get along and realize that it takes a village to raise a child when we’re all in this together? … Or something like that.
TL;DR version: enjoy your s**t sandwich, courtesy of your liberal betters who know what’s best for everyone.

This is a defining moment in our history. Tea Party must either turn out with huge protests this coming year or we might as well all line up for our tattoos & GPS chips.
It’s time for the shot to hit the fan.
Conservative media needs to start rallying the troops. Conservative celebrities (there are more than we know) need to step up to the plate, make statements & appearances.
This year, the wife and I will be transferring our disposable wealth to the Tea Party and the NRA.
I’m also putting 1/2 of my 401k contributions into hard currency this year.

Attention Mr. NSA monitor, that was “it’s time for the shit to hit the fan”.

The republicans as a whole should quitely start mending fences within their party and be sure to show the public a united front. No more Paul-like pouting, disparaging new party members who won’t bow to the old line, and for God’s sake make peace with the Tea Party. No one wants a box of cool parts, they want a functional machine.
This should be the GOP’s chance to score big and make a comeback, unless they follow the practice of the Maverick and play nice, be “fair,” and shudder at what the moderates might think. Talk about second chances …

I’m under the impression that there is another huge factor driving cancellations; the requirement that the minimum payout ratio for any insurance plan by 80% or more. In contrast, typical payout ratios for home or vehicle insurance are around 60%.
So what do you do to get to that 80% ratio? You cut the policies that don’t pay for day to day expenses–in other words the insurance policies that actually are insurance–and then you require people to sign up for a policy that pays 33% more, plus the other overhead required by the President.
And then everybody wonders why insurance is so (*&(*&)( expensive. Really, it’s not rocket science.
