Triumph Of The Will And Grace

By Mitch Berg

Say what you will about same-sex marriage. I’ve supported civil unions for most of a decade – but events in Minnesota passed that by.

So lets turn away from the overkill coverage of all those gay weddings amd play a little art appreciation, shall we?

Pick apart the symbolism of this photo, from the MinnPost.

What thousand words is this photo telling us?

    This, too, shall pass?

It’s telling us “stupid Catholics, wingnuts, evangelicals! We win!”.

  4. Powhatan Mingo Says:

If you think that the pro-gay-marriage forces are going to allow churches to not perform or recognize same-sex marriages, you’re nuts.
To them, it’s all about forcing others to acknowledge and approve of their ‘gayness’. It’s a narcissistic, ego-driven thing. The more you refuse to acknowledge and approve their gayness, the more they want to force you to accept their gayness.

  5. Jeff Kouba Says:

I think forcing churches into peforming gay marriages would/will be a bridge too far. The radical left hasn’t too much serious opposition these last few years in their quest to hollow out this country, but if they try that, they’re going to have a real fight on their hands.

I don’t think we’re there yet, but outright defiance of tax laws, regulations, the trappings of the nanny state etc… isn’t that far off, and pushing churches into bowing before the Noble Gay could be the trigger.

The sand-is-food crew has been making hay over recent remarks by Pope Francis. They don’t understand Catholocism any more clearly than they do science or human biology.

The day the Catholic church accepts homosexuality as a normal, or even acceptable behavior is the day the sand-is-food crew makes a liar of Christ. Matthew 16:17-18

The Triumph Of The Will And Grace is the wholesale consumption of a lie by kids in public schools, unthinking hipsters & dimwitted lefties.

The leftist elite doesn’t buy the storyline; they prize the narritive because it further undermines that which makes us strong, independent people.

Homosexuality isn’t normal; it’s not funny and it’s a hazard to public health and civil society.

I was trying to think of the conservative equivalent of a social issue victory in the last decade that activists loudly and publicly celebrated to the chagrin of the progressives, but can’t think of a one.

Despite what is transpiring today, marriage remains what marriage has always been. It is a religious institution sanctioned by the state.

The state can’t change my religion, at least not yet. My Bible tells me that “for this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh” (Matthew 19:5). Note that Jesus didn’t say husband and husband or wife and wife. The only opinion that will ever matter about marriage is God’s, who invented it.

Unless the Minnesota Legislature thinks it has the theological chops to vote to change Matthew 19:5, today is sound and fury signifying nothing. Thank God. Gays and lesbians can claim they’re ‘married’ until they’re blue in their faces, but it will never be so.

Standing in my garage doesn’t make me a car. And standing in front of an altar will never make gays and lesbians ‘married’.

Since The Constituiton and founding principles of America mean nothing to degenerate, immoral left, it is alas but a matter of time – note rise of Atheist and Wacko Environmentalism religions.

There is a reason why they call it ‘totalitarianism’.
There is a fellow named ‘Michael Parenti”. He writes awful, liberal political science books (I was assigned to read his ‘Democracy for the Few’ when I took poli-sci. You can get an idea of where Parenti fits in the great pantheon of Leftist intellectuals by the cover of the book: http://www.amazon.com/Democracy-Few-Michael-Parenti/dp/0312392508/ref=la_B000APNF70_1_17?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1375376830&sr=1-17

It features an apparently homeless white, male, college age person with the White House in the background — as though America is unfair to white, male, college students!
Parenti is noted for attacking Noam Chomski from the Left. Because he didn’t like Chomski’s criticism of Stalin.

Anyhow, Parenti believes that Castro’s Cuba is far more democratic than the US, because, in Cuba, every social institution is controlled by the political state, and, in Parenti’s twisted view, the CP represents the People. Therefore, a nation where the State controls the Church is more democratic than a nation where the State does not control the Church.
This is exactly the sort of ‘democracy’ our friends on the Left have in mind for the United States.

Pffft. Via twitter, Dim Tim begs to differ with me. He thinks homosexuals are hi-frickin’-larious and wishes us to know he considers buggery a perfectly healthy pastime, suitable for the whole family.

And if you don’t agree, well you’re teh Nazi (really, he said that).

    Thanks Tim!

  16. Chuck Says:

It was never about homosexual marriage (for the most part). It was about winning and giving a big F.U. to conservatives, Catholics, Mormans, etc.

As far as churches being forced to perform gay marriages, it won’t be don’t head on, but instead battling by coming in the back door (in more ways than one). It will start with religous schools. And charitiable agencies. Then they will look at removming the tax exempt status.

  17. Chuck Says:

Davethul, I was thinking the same thing. For an example of how conservatives behave when they win, look at Wisconsin. After Walker easily won the recall election, the Republicans in Wisconsin didn’t parade around and mock the left. They didn’t drive around union offices and honk their horns. There were no victory rallies. It was just “lets get back to work” attitude.

  18. Mitch Berg Says:

Dim Tim is a wannabe pundit and real-life gabbling dolt.

He’s not smart enough to be worth engaging, and has neither the brains nor the balls to be anything but the trite little troll he is.

He’s best ignored. And so I ignore him.

  19. swiftee Says:

Using Berg’s 7th as a guide, one may conclude that Dim Tim dreams of being buggered in a school yard during recess by a riding crop wielding guy wearing an SS uniform.

  20. bubbasan Says:

Glad to see that Mayo is changing to require marriage of those who want benefits. You want me to pay your healthcare? Great. Sign up to protect your partner with the force of law.

It’ll be interesting to see how that one shakes out. Hormel doesn’t surprise me, because one of their heirs is “of that persuasion”, and good luck to HR if they want to get it past that voting bloc of stock.

And the flag in front of St. Paul’s? Well, as Swiftee notes, they’ve got the right to be as disgusting in their discourse as they are in their private behavior, no? Just take a note and move on.

(who is Dim Tim, by the way?)

  21. swiftee Says:

Dim Tim is a lefty who thought he had what it takes to teach readers of SITD how smert lefties are. Turns out he was wrong and evaporated into the twittersphere.

  22. Mitch Berg Says:

“Dim Tim” used to comment here, occasionally, as “TimInStPaul”, I think.

  23. davethul Says:

    Chuck-

that’s exactly the type of comparison I was trying to think of. Liberals would have screamed bloody murder had Gov Walker hosted a victory party at the state capital on election night.

  24. Chuck Says:

Think about Chris Coleman putting about 25 homosexual rainbow flags on the Wabasha street bridge last month. Imagine if a Repubican mayor would have put up some kind of anti-government-union flags up on a bridge after the Wisconsin law passed.

  25. swiftee Says:

Some Gadsen flags Chuck. I’d be happy to donate some.
