Tool Talk
By Mitch Berg
So does anyone out there in the greater Saint Paul area have a drum sander, or a really oomph-y orbital sander, that they could rent or lend to an area blogger for a day?
It’s for a new recipe.
No, not really. I have a floor or two to refinish – and all of Menards’ rental sanders are broken and unavailable.
I love the smell of poly in the morning. It smells like…
…a hangover when you haven’t been drinking.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. Let me know.

Sorry, I don’t have that sort of sander.
But speaking of tools, it seems the Rammer is switching his vote on the bailout because the Democrats threw in a $4 billion earmark for a Paul Wellstone Memorial mental health insurance package.
So now we know the price of a Minnesota congressman.

Man, Home Depot rents those, pretty cheaply. Check ’em – though I’m sure you have. Try Eagan or Bloomington. They have plenty.

Or hire Sean Russell. He’s an independent, it’s all he does and seriously, he does it well. He did my floors, my brother-in-laws, and even my buddy’s rental house, all outstanding and surprisingly cheap.
He’s usually booked by realtors working the St. Anthony Park neighborhood – the first thing they do when listing an old mansion is book Sean to do the floors – so you might have to make a reservation, but it’s worth the wait, gives you a chance to get the ceiling painted and the walls touched up before you slop paint all over the new floors.
Let me know if you want his phone number.
