Didn’t See That Coming

When I left Katie McCollow’s birthday party at Keegans last night, the Twins were four runs down.

“Call in the fire and pee on the dogs”, I thought, for this season.

Oh, me of little faith:

The Twins had clumsy moments and painful moments.

They had moments that brought their fans hair-pulling frustration and spine-tingling excitement.

They lost Kevin Slowey to a wrist injury. They fell behind by five runs.

But by late Thursday night, the Twins were jumping and dancing in the infield, celebrating a 7-6, 10-inning victory over the White Sox that gave them sole possession of first place for the first time since Aug. 23

So I might start following baseball.

  1. Mets pulled out a win against the Cubs in the bottom of the ninth last night. Tied for wild card with the Brewers and a game back of the Phillies in first. Angryclown has tickets for tomorrow’s game, which could be a double-header, if the rain keeps up.

  2. When Twins behind 1-6, I chose to turn it off, and didn’t even bother to put on the Brewers on the radio. I choose poorly, with two bigs wins in the bottom of the 10th.

AC, Mets will probably back into playoffs as the Cubs come to Milwaukee to continue to belittle the team from Brewtown. Althought word out there is that Florida may want to play the spoiler roll.

  3. I hope you’re right about the Cubbies, Chuck. There is a regional rivalry beteen the teams and the Cubs won’t want to lose a series in Milwaukee. On the other hand, the Cubs are safely in the playoffs and will want to rest pitchers and starters. We’ll see. I’d rather take it from the Phils than have to worry about what the Brewers do.
