Where Have We Heard This?

By Mitch Berg

Politico:

So far — and it is hard to tell what the future may hold for Palin’s unexpected national candidacy — the travails of the Palin family probably seem awfully familiar to many average Americans. It is this averageness that makes her such a politically promising running mate for John McCain — and such a dangerous opponent for Democrats. Many voters will find it easy to identify with her family’s struggles — a significant advantage in an election where the voting calculus is so unusually and intensely personal.

I believe much of the “hope” for “change” in this election comes from people wanting Washington – government at all levels, really – to “understand” them; to legislate without talking down, to operate without overreaching, to do the right thing by us.

I think the symbolism of the Palin candidacy is a complete bombshell.

MSM is really out to get her. Very interesting listening to WCCO radio this morning. It’s amazing how difference between how they treat Republicans vs Democrats.

    Sarah!

    Sarah!

    Sarah!

    And she can cook, too!

That’s a crappy photoshop job, AC. Do this yourself, did you?

I don’t even have to squint to see the white pixels between the trees and the side of her head. Not to mention the vast difference in resolution between the face and the rest of the body.

I suggest you best stick to what you know: seltzer water, balloon animals and greasepaint.

    Gov. Sarah Palin’s Vlog.

  7. Slash Says:

Governor Palin is totally going to rally the Party base around the careful thought and reasoned judgment of John McCain. What’s more, it totally distances McCain from any smear trying to tie him to President Bush and the Defeatokrat myth of making decisions on faulty intelligence.

Now the whole country can see that John McCain studied all the facts before making a decision as important as choosing Palin.

THAT’s how you put Country First.

Personally, I think it would hawt to vote for a chick in a bikini waving a rifle. But then, I’m an issues voter like that.

    AC:

    that’s the best yuou’ve got?

    Stop quaking in your bloomers.

    Tim:

Where did you find that chick?

    In a Macalester dorm?

The challenge Mitch, is that we legitimately are dubious of McCain’s intent to change anything. He’s been mostly a rubber stamp for a failed President, and if not a rubber stamp for that (failed) President, for ingratiating the wealthy at the expense of the middle class, over and over again. His ‘maverick’ status died in 2002.

  11. penigma Says:

Frankly, AC, I think Barbie Palin has a better bod than the lady in your highly retouched photo – given your normal evisceration of the neo-bots here, I expected more clown funny and less clownishness – I suppose you’re just playing to the audience?

You and I both know McCain wanted a compliant, acquiescent VP- someone he can be himself with (bossy, surly, snotty, condescending, demeaning) – and he wanted one with a skeletal bod like Cindy – he’d never want some ragedy, (appears to be) 30-30 totin, scope-uneccessary-but-still-present, cigar smokin, hairy armpit, carryin a few extra pounds shower once a month, backwater mountain-man(gal). Nope, that would be Larry Craig – he’d just waive some toilet paper to let him.. err .. her.. know.

BTW, I’m sure glad Palin belonged to a movement to seek independence for AK from the US.. country first by God.

    “…(bossy, surly, snotty, condescending, demeaning)…”

    Don’t sell yourself short, Judge… you’re a tremendous slouch.

Already debunked as a pathetic meme. A NYT fabrication. You need to get out more, Peev.

  14. Terry Says:

Palin has our D friends frightened. four of the lefties that occasionally comment on this site have shown up here to attack her; AC, Peev, Tim in StP, and Slash.
If your going to make authenticity a campaign issue, boys, first you better get yourself an authentic black candidate.

  15. Mr. D Says:

BTW, I’m sure glad Palin belonged to a movement to seek independence for AK from the US.. country first by God.

Had a commenter put up the same canard about the AIP membership on my blog. Palin has been a Republican continuously since 1982. That’s a lot longer than I’ve been one.

    Meet the Wasilla Hillbillies:

On his MySpace page, Johnston proudly declares: “I’m a f—in’ redneck.”

“I live to play hockey. I like to go camping and hang out with the boys, do some fishing,” he says on the site.

He also warns that if anyone messes with him, “I’ll kick ass.”

    McCain/Clampett ’08!!!

  17. Terry Says:

Keep working that hillbilly angle, Tim in St. Paul. That’ll nail the working-class white vote down for you guys! Works against the ‘she’s not authentic’ angle though.
Keep treading water! Sooner or later your foot is bound to hit solid ground!

  18. Mr. Shirt Says:

    Peni,

McCain has been, for a large part, the sand in Bush’s vaseline; no where near the “rubber stamp” you & your keepers claim. McCain even entertained the possibility of being John Kerry’s running mate in 2004… not really good evidence for the claim that he is, well ANYTHING like Bush.

Fact is GW Bush is too liberal, & McCain is even more so. I can’t wait until this party nominates a real conservative, who believes in real change that we can believe in… Oh wait, I guess we just did!

Personally, I’m not voting for McCain to be President, I’m voting Palin for VP!

  19. jimf Says:

Penguin- “Ingratiating the wealthy at the expense of the middle class.” For the millionith time, the “rich” are paying a higher percentage of the total income tax bill now than before the Bush tax cuts. Look it up. More specifically, they are ” The Congress tax cuts”, as Bush only signed the bill. There were many Dems that voted for it. More mis-information from the left.

  20. Mr. D Says:

    Meet the Wasilla Hillbillies

Another conclusive demonstration of the high esteem with which the Party of the People views its ostensible subjects.

  21. Terry Says:

The working poor pay high payroll taxes, not income tax. This is due to SSI & medicare. SS originated with a progressive democrat administration (Roosevelt) as did medicare (Johnson). Conservatives fought against these exercises in social engineering.
Facts, as they say, are stubborn things.

  22. nate Says:

Like Yossarian, it only took me a minute to confirm that Palin’s got my vote.

She’s a Life Member in the NRA. What more do you need to know?
