Hey, Osama bin Ladin isn’t better off than he was four years ago!
Of course, neither is Chris Stevens.

And one of those, Night Writer, was not an American.

I notice that there is quite a bit less enthusiasm for our affirmative action prez among SITD’s liberal commenters than there was four years ago.

Warning: threadjack. But as Mitch is well known for his love of and respect for Minnesota’s educational bureaucracy perhaps he’ll permit this.
We have such a good education system here in Minnesota. We’re always concerned about making sure people learn with the help of our wonderful teachers.
But be warned: you can’t bypass our teachers nor their unions. We won’t stand for it. Therefore, you scum who are taking free online university courses at places like Coursera and Udacity are hereby cut off.
Well, as cut off as you can be in a course freely available on the Web. We’ll find a way to come after you the consumer since all we can do is make the provider put silly Terms of Use limits like this:
Notice for Minnesota Users:
Coursera has been informed by the Minnesota Office of Higher Education that under Minnesota Statutes (136A.61 to 136A.71), a university cannot offer online courses to Minnesota residents unless the university has received authorization from the State of Minnesota to do so. If you are a resident of Minnesota, you agree that either (1) you will not take courses on Coursera, or (2) for each class that you take, the majority of work you do for the class will be done from outside the State of Minnesota.
We now return you to your typical political blather.

Wow! If I ran Coursera, I would already be getting my legal guns loaded to sue those pompous asses at Doo Dooville!

I hear commercials every day on the radio, encouraging me to sign up for food stamps.
What if the gov’t spent that much time, energy and money on radio commericals telling people where they can get low pay jobs, but at least have to work for their money. Ask a dairy farmer how many non-Mexicans he gets appling for for work on his farm.

I’m sure one of the greed and selfish lefties will speak up and tell everyone how they are doing better than they were four years ago. 😉
$1200 a year to offer classes in Minnesota. What exactly does that money buy them? What exactly does that money buy us?
October 19th, 2012 at 1:47 pm
Troy, that buys you the partial services of a useless bureaucrat for a year.
But I think Minnesota must value those useless bureaucrats, we have so many of them. Remember, though, that bureaucrats and regulations like this are why Dayton ended the shutdown so they do beneficial things unintentionally sometimes. When the lack of $35 registration fees for beer brand names threatened to stop deliveries of beer Dayton had to abandon his shutdown. Minnesotans will tolerate closing state parks, stopping road construction, and laying off government workers, but we draw the line at stopping beer from flowing.

At the end of the day yesterday, everyone’s favorite FORMER legislator (Larry Pogemiller – head of some MN education association something or other) released a statement saying “Haha, just kidding. If you’re taking free classes not for a degree, it’s all good!”

When I look at my IRAs, I’m one heck of a lot better off than I was 4 years ago!
Are you guys all among the unfortunate 7-9 percent who lost their jobs? Most of us did not loose our jobs, but our IRAs and other investments tanked. Nice to see them come back.
October 21st, 2012 at 10:08 pm
well gosh Leslie aren’t you the smug little critter! Not numbered among those people who will lose their homes, in some cases their families – not to worry, “I have mine hope you got yours” – right?
Bluntly sir, people can be deeply concerned about the ramifications of financial issues (job losses) without having to lose their jobs – your strawman is soundly kicked to the ground.
and about those IRAs you’re so proud of, ask your financial planner how much of it you get to keep with Dear Leader’s proposed tax hikes – hint, you won’t be best pleased with the answer.
also ask your financial planer to lay out what your IRAs would have been without Dear Leaders studied inattention to the national economic issues.
Oh and Leslie explain to me how much better things are when Dear Leader spends more time playing golf than he does meeting with economic advisers with the goal of really stimulating job growth.
