Foreshadowing?

By Mitch Berg

Two bits of news from yesterday.

While I’m not especially knotted up about gay marriage – I support civil unions, yadda yadda – it lost big in North Carolina yesterday.  Bible-belt bigotry?  Or a sign that social issues are winners in swing states?  We’ll see.

And as you’ve no doubt heard, Scott Walker drew almost as many Republican voters to his meaningless primary than all the Democrat contenders put together in Wisconsin yesterday – an effort that cost millions in union money and led to the Dems getting…

…Tom Barrett, the Sharon Sayles-Belton of Milwaukee, a man who’s presided over the decline of a city that…well, was where Happy Days was set, anyway.

If you’re a union member?  Get ready to have your paycheck tapped harder than ever.

I’m going to slip a few bucks in the figurative online mail for the Walker campaign.  Now’s when it get serious.

“Presumably any financial chicanery by dual Swiss citizens would never get to the US.”
Presumably you are a raving lunatic, “Sanity”.

  2. bosshoss429 Says:

“These laws were in conflict with peoples rights – as endowed by their creator – to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. These were struck down as unconstitutional as they were in direct conflict with these inalienable rights.”

In other words, inSanity, Obumler is a freaking hypocrite, just like you and a flip flop artist pandering for votes.

“Well, it goes to the issue of her character, and that affects my decision to vote for (or not) her.”

Funny, you left wing trolls have no issues with the character of your elected officials or the thugs that support them. So, don’t vote for her. It’s obvious that you don’t like her anyway or you wouldn’t be squealing like a little pig about it.

“That’s news to me. What other countries is he a citizen of? Proof?”

There’s the problem. True believers like you have ignored the elephant in the room. He and his handlers is proof that he is a citizen has been debunked. He also has spent millions of dollars keeping it and his college transcripts sealed.

“AS a dual citizen she has already compromised her US citizenship.”

Really? That’s your argument? Well, obviously your public screwel and liberal college education failed you in history. How many people have demonstrated their allegiance to the U.S. when they were not yet a citizen by fighting and dying for it?

And sorry, I don’t care about Ron Paul’s opinion.

“Ha, ha. I’m not worried about that, just pointing out the hypocrisy of Bachmann (“I’ll repeal Obamacare”) — why would she want to be a citizen of a socialist state? For the free healthcare? It was meant to be funny, but the humor somehow got past you.”

The day that she actually applies for the free healthcare or uses it, your argument may be valid. And by repeatedly bringing it up, you were NOT being funny, so nothing got past me. You were being a jack ass! You’re just pissed that I called you on it.

And what country is next to Switzerland?
    Germany.
And what group meets in Germany?
    The Bilderbergers.
And why did Germany invade France, but not Switzerland?
Wheels within wheels, my friends. Wheels within wheels.

  4. Yossarian Says:

Well, it goes to the issue of her character, and that affects my decision to vote for (or not) her.

Unless you live in the 6th District in Minnesota, I don’t imagine you’ll lose much sleep when it comes to voting (or not) for her.

Congratulations on picking up yet another pointillistic, self-important comment troll, Mitch. Not that you needed another one, mind you.

  5. Blunt Force Trauma Says:

Say, I think “Sanity” is really our old friend “cupcake”.
Well, meet BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA Mr. cupcake!
Wasn’t “cupcake” really some guy named weiner or avon-at-your-door or something like that?

This whole thing is a two-part problem: gays want marriage so they qualify for government benefits; liberals want a Noble Cause to champion. Slavery and Civil Rights are taken, all that’s left is homosexuals getting short-changed of government goodies. Not a particularly inspiring crusade.

I’d sooner get government out of the marriage business altogether. Used to be, people needed a blood test, morons couldn’t procreate, serial marriage was banned, sex outside marriage provided an incentive to stay home. Society encouraged marriage with tax breaks and government benefits because the nuclear one-man-one-woman family was the fundamental organizational unit of society and the best method to protect women and children while accumulating wealth in the societal unit.

Now, the basic societal unit is the individual, so the prior incentives make no sense. So if government no longer wants marriages, why provide the benefits? Don’t expand benefits to non-marriages (or “civil unions”), just end the benefits!

Let’s try an analogy. You get paid to grow hemp, which the government needed to make rope for The Great War. And your neighbor gets paid to raise goats for mohair, to make wool for army uniforms.

Instead of expanding the subsidy to dirigible makers and horse whip manufacturers, both of which are similar ‘military supplies,’ END all the subsidies to everybody and let the military use nylon rope or Gore-Tex uniforms.

Other countries have religious marriages and civil marriages, separate. We could take the lead and just do away with civil marriages and abolish all the benefits and subsidies that went with it. Doesn’t matter anymore anyway, that model of societal organization is finished.

“Presumably you are a raving lunatic, “Sanity”.”

I’m not the only raving lunatic.

Given the Republican party financial shenanigans (Tony Sutton, et al.) it isn’t a stretch to connect a few dots in this case.

It’s pretty clear she isn’t loving Switzerland for their gay marriage laws or their universal government paid healthcare. It’s the strangest move I’ve seen from a sitting Congressperson running for re-election.

Take the blinders off and look at this objectively. If a flaming liberal Congressperson suddenly applied for and obtained citizenship to the most right-wing, fascist state wouldn’t you wonder (just a little bit) what motivates such contrary behavior?

  8. Sanity Says:

Here’s an opinion that I think is spot on:

“In my view, Rep. Bachmann’s dual citizenship is extremely troubling. For one thing I believe there is a conflict with her Oath of Office which states as follows:

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”

In my opinon, having such a dual allegiance prevents one from carrying out the Oath of Office as intended.

Even more troubling is her membership on the International Monetary Policy and Trade Committee under which “Swiss Bank Accounts” and U.S. Policy towards them would definitely be a topic of discussion. There is a clear conflict of interest here.

In my opinion Rep. Bachmann needs to resign immediately. “

Sanity, take your Bachmann Derangement Syndrome elsewhere. Threadjacking is the act of an unstable mind. Likewise, claiming “Sanity” when none is in evidence.

  10. Troy Says:

Two things made me laugh out loud:
    (1) “the Sharon Sayles-Belton of Milwaukee”
    and
    (2) a “Dump Bachmann” link (“ree mah blarg!”)
    Hilarity has ensued! 🙂

Bachmann Withdraws Dual Swiss Citizenship, Says She is Proud to be an American

    Another Epic Fail.

    Hahahahahahahaha!
