The New Victorians
By Mitch Berg
Remember when it was the conservatives who were the prudes who walked around like they had a poker up their nether regions?
Either do Wisconsin Democrats:
(WASHINGTON EXAMINER) Even as the Democratic National Committee profits from the “Republican war on women” meme, liberals opposing Gov. Scott Walker, R-Wis., have decided to attack the governor by targeting a woman in his campaign on the basis of her history of “unnatural sexiness”
That’s right – a woman who once worked as a Hooters’ waitress is their latest target:
Ciara Matthews, Walker’s communications director, is under fire for being both pro-life and a former Hooters restaurant waitress. “Profitting (sic) from selling a plasticized form of unnatural sexiness designed to arouse men while simultaneously believing that women should be forced to face the ‘consequences’ of actually giving into to their sexual desires is a pretty backward way of thinking,” the Jezebel’s Erin Gloria Ryan suggested, while apparently trying to embarrass Matthews by posting a “hilarious” photo of her wearing a Hooters uniform. (Curiously, Ryan also said that Matthews’ “shouldn’t be faulted” for working at Hooters.)
So here’s the scroe card; the Democrats are all for women – provided they’re the right women.
Which means “not breaking any kind of liberal orthodoxy”.
Then, they hate you.
But this is not just about Governor Walker’s communications staffer. This is about Democrats realizing that women who have kids and work for a living are deserting Obama. Not just women, mind you – Obama is polling badly among working-class whites in general:
Nationally, Obama lost the white working-class vote by 18 points. But in the 2010 midterm elections, congressional Democrats saw a 30-point deficit among the same group and lost control of the House.
“While the first number is a figure Obama could live with repeating, the second could very well prove fatal,” Teixeira wrote in the New Republic.
A recent Washington Post-ABC News poll showed Obama improving his standing among key constituencies except whites with annual household incomes under $50,000. His numbers were stuck at 40 percent favorable, 56 percent unfavorable.
“When he first started, I was hoping he’d keep to what he said he would do. But he didn’t,” said Zach Ritchie, 26, of Johnstown, who said he’ll vote Republican out of protest.
The headwinds facing Obama are a reminder that signs of an economic comeback belie the setbacks the recession has dealt many Americans. Towns across western Pennsylvania, a critical area in a critical state for Obama, remain depressed. Ritchie said work building greenhouses in West Virginia dried up four years ago, and he has not been able to find work in his hometown.
The media will obscure this as hard as they can – but the way this election is shaping up is that the only reason to vote for Obama is racicm or upper-middle-class, white-libeeral-built-plagued classism.

Four years ago, the economy was slipping but few realized how bad it was or how long it would last. There was certainty the first bailout would fix things.
Many people felt they could afford to indulge themselves by casting a symbolic ballot for The First Black President. Yes, his credentials were a little thin, but how bad of a President could he be?
Four years on, those people see the economy seriously hurting and the bailouts as failures. President Obama has nothing new to offer. He’s still Black but we’ve already been there, done that, so no need to do it again. Romney is a rich White guy but if those are the choices, many are thinking maybe we should give him another look.
can’t see that changing before the election.

Nate-
I know a guy, working class, but went to night school, got a CS degree, retired a early a few years ago, not wealthy, but comfortable. He called himself a conservative but he was far more of a libertarian than I am, and I am on the libertarian side.
Anyway, he voted for Obama. I tried to talk him out of it, but he thought Palin was stupid and there was no way — no way! — Obama could be as bad on fiscal issues as Bush had been.
I saw my friend in early 2012, just after the stimulus passed, and asked him what he thought of Obama now.
I expected a reaction, but nothing like what I got. He exploded with a stream of cuss words that included frequent references to Obama.
I don’t think he’ll vote Obama this time around.

We are the new centurions,
Shepherds of the Nation,
we’ll keep on our guard,
for sin and degradation.
Sounds like Jezebel’s Erin Gloria Ryan was working for the Santorum campaign and is now looking for something to do.

If you want to understand the democrats’ strategy, check out these numbers:

Obama needs to make up the ground that he’s lost with white men, and he can’t squeeze many more votes out of blacks, hispanics, and asians.

“…can’t squeeze anymore votes out of blacks, Hispanics and asians.”
With their (Color of Change) full court press on any Voter ID legislation and looking the other way when the New Black Panthers use threats of violence at polling places, that may not be the case Terry.

Simple economics, Seflores. Obama has already made the easiest marginal gains in those groups. He got well over 90% of the black vote, and hispanics, asians, and “other” went for O by a 2:1 margin ’08. Further gains will be ruinously expensive compared to increasing the female vote.
Or so I imagine they have come to that decision in their secret meetings.

Stereotyping or “Profiling” is alive and well in America. It’s not done by Law Enforcement or your neighborhood watch types. It’s done by the Left and their centrally planned script that requires everyone to know their role and not vary from their vision of what you are supposed to be in their play. It’s why Lefty has no problem saying racist things about Conservative Blacks or homophobic things about Conservative Gays or sexist things about the choices Republican women make.

And pray let us not forget that as of some time yesterday, April16, the national debt exceeded $15 trillion. Obama has added an additional $5 in only three years. Hope & Change. Yes We Can.

This whole class warfare rhetoric is keeping us busy here. I’m starting to think the Romney camp might not call us because they might not even need us. Who needs friends when Romney and the GOP has enemies like this?

“the national debt exceeded $15 trillion.”
Along these lines, I received an email from Stuart Smalley this morning, spewiing the lie that “the affordable care act” is already working, allowing thousands of Minnesotans with pre-existing conditions, yada, yada to get the healthcare they need. He then patted himself on the back over a provision that “he added” to the monstrosity that called for 80% of the premiums paid actually going to healthcare costs and not to salaries and perks, which he said goes into effect in 2013. This made me want to key the first car that I see with a Franken bumper sticker on it!

“The media will obscure this as hard as they can.”
The media will continue their trek to obscurity as this election unfolds. They will continue to assume people are stupid – and be largely correct.
April 18th, 2012 at 12:05 pm
We are in full spin mode here, everyone outside of FoxNews is blowing up our phonelines. Journalists are concerned that they may actually have to do this obscure thing called reporting on and investigating a sitting democratic president. Even they can see that flyover country has tuned them out, no one under 45 even watches the nightly news anymore.

That stuff we put in the water is working MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Of course video games and pop culture really have helped out too. Network was right
April 18th, 2012 at 12:10 pm
PofD: Ever wonder why the movie “Network” has been released on TV or as a video for sale? The movie was honored as best movie 25 years ago, but it painted a deep, dark, cynical, self-serving mockery of national TV news. The reason it was never re-released is probably the same reason vampires avoid mirrors.

TBS I can do you one better, according to IMDB it won, and I shit you not, the SCIENCE FICTION AWARD for best sci-fi movie of 1976. It was actually 35 years ago. Also rumor has it that Rupert Murdoch used it for a blueprint of Fox News. And it is on AMC every now and then, unedited too after midnight.
April 18th, 2012 at 2:19 pm
They ought to broadcast the film in prime time but, then, too many might think they had tuned in NBC and AMC’s numbers would tank. I can kind of see their reasoning.
