What’s In An URL?

By Mitch Berg

Happy to say that of all the dumb corporate concepts I’ve worked for, I’ve never latched on with any on this list, from which I’ll excerpt a couple:

1. A site called ‘Who Represents‘ where you can find the name of the agent that represents a celebrity. Their domain name… wait for it… is
www.whorepresents.com

2. Experts Exchange, a knowledge base where programmers can exchange advice and views at
www.expertsexchange.com

Oh, there’s more.

    Not just URLs.

I once worked for the Minnesota Department of Personnel. They wanted to get on the trendy rename-yourself-as-Human-Resouces bandwagon. The proposed name: Department of Personal and Employee Relations.

Looked good until they came to the logo: DOPER
