Zzzzzzzzz!

By Mitch Berg

It occurs to me that I haven’t taken an honest-to-pete weekday off from blogging in years and years.

So, may it please the court, I’m going to take the day off today.Β

Back – it is likely – Monday.

Slacker. What are the rest of us supposed to do all weekend?

  2. Badda Says:

    Whoa, pally… what’s the sick-day, personal-day, vacation-day, and telecommuting (bloggacommuting?) policy here?

  3. Kermit Says:

If you’re jonesing for content we’re doing politics, charity, religion and hot chicks at Anti-Strib. Come on over.

  4. peevish Says:

This aint work, it’s play, have a good weekend, you’re not required to play every game, every day. Certainly not to satisfy us flame junkies.

  5. Badda Says:

Oi gevalt! You’re even obtuse when you’re not in a real topic. πŸ˜†

    Let me make this brief.

    It
    Was
    Sarcasm

Relax, Peev. You take this far too seriously. Read my blog post on how wrong you are. πŸ™‚

What, did Eva just barge into the comments section?

  7. Jeff_McAwesome Says:

Mitch, why haven’t you claimed your prize?

I almost used [Eva mode] for that line. πŸ˜‰ Well, actually I did but I simply didn’t use the “code”.

    Badda,

Seriously, the one who needs to lighten up is sitting in your chair, eating your potato chips, and wearing your clothes.

I don’t take what you say personally, it’s mostly a respect thing (sorry, but you’ve said far worse) and a little bit a recognition that you’re not entirely serious sometimes, but you take your need to involve yourself in a discussion a bit too far and a bit too serious to be giving me, or anyone else for that matter, lectures on conduct.

Mitch, otoh, is someone I know, someone I try to remain civil with. I won’t agree that we are the same in our conduct – I admit to flaws and openly consider both sides, as well as fighting against bias, rather than embracing it – but we’re both flawed – and so I take a LOT of what he says as ribbing, rather than seriously, because despite his frequent lapses into ‘less than civil’ land, I know he THINKS he’s being decent- and intent is everything.

It’s why I was willing to put bygones behind us between you and I, I thought you meant to be better, and so let it go.. and that, my ‘friend’ is the essence of ‘lightening up’.

Conversely, you seem to need to interject into nearly every conversation – is that being light, in your opinion?

Somebody, please, dial the irony police. Peev’s robbed two irony convenience stores and shot two irony victims in less than 10 minutes.

  11. Badda Says:

    Peev,
I didn’t realize we were “fighting”… at least I didn’t realize that until you claimed I was so extreme, hateful , etc. You still haven’t provided anything in the way of proof.

Now, lightening up also has another large component… not taking one’s self too seriously. You might want to look into that.

Remember the irony that Yoss pointed to, though. You’re killin’ us here.

taking a day off – Mitch found a girlfriend, why else would he blow off peev and the rest of us?

  13. Yossarian Says:

    blow off peev

    *shudder*

    He’s wearing clothes? That’s a relief!

Mitch finally got that hot date with Marisa!

  16. Old_Buddy Says:

Gee Mitch, and I was going to ask you to help me move on Saturday…;)

  17. peevish Says:

    Badda,

Of ALL of the people on this blog, I can say with utter and complete certainty that I am at the extremem end of NOT taking myself very seriously.

Conservatism is the epitome of tellling others how to live their lives from the lens of one’s own. I grasp my flaws without demur, hesitation, or excuse.. so candidly, you’re off in la-la land if you actually think, as compared to you, I need to take myself less seriously. I don’t inject myself into your conversations, nor frankly, do I give a crap about what or how many times you’ve posted. I care only slightly about how many time I have, as you saw from my comments back to Mitch when he bitched about it. My response is, “so what? I thought this was just ribbing?”

So, no, I don’t perceive conservatives as any more ‘light’, in fact, to be sure, the exact opposite. As Flash, and MANY others have rightly pointed out, it is you neo-cons who are so small tent that you persist in alienating nearly everyone because you have to tell them how much better you are than them, insist on passing judgement where you’ve never earned the right, and insist on decrying a lack of personal responsibility yet refuse to account for your own conduct. You become bristly and defensive when your personal world is attacked, admit to no flaws, and make ludicrous comments like that you’ve never lied, and/or never been wrong. Please tell me that someone who in all seriousness makes that kind of statement is somehow more ‘laid back’ than I, or for that matter, the other moderates and/or liberals that brave the tempestuous and churlish flame-barrage that is Schlock in the Dark. I think not, by the way (obviously).

No, let’s turn this back instead to you neo-cons. You insist on telling the working poor that they are poor by choice, you insist on saying that all welfare programs are cheats, that the real problem with the country is taxes, that anyone who questions the President is a traitor (whilst with the same mouth undercutting Clinton during Bosnia with near seditious zeal), in short, you pass judgement and describe remedy on EVERY LAST subject under the sun – but have the audacity (and ignorance) to tell me (and the rest of the world) to both ‘fly right’ but to take ourselves less seriously?? I guess then we should all simply let you tell us how to live, follow your example and let fearless leader tell us what to think about Valerie Wilson, or Iraq, or WMD.. to which I have one response.

    Are you serious?

  18. Yossarian Says:

    Dear Peev:

    Shut the fuck up.

    Sincerely,

    The World.

  19. buzz Says:

    1. lighten up apparently means something different to you than everyone else.
2.”Conservatism is the epitome of tellling others how to live their lives from the lens of one’s own.”
    Uhh….no it isnt,
    3. Your last paragraph. Projection and mind reading for almost all of it. I hope you are not a smoker, with all that straw. Actually everything but the first two paragraphs. Those I assume are parody.
4.neo-cons. Many of us are actually Cons. Not neo. It really isnt a one-size fits all word.

  20. Badda Says:

    Peev you ignorant slut,
You keep ascribing things to me/conservatives without providing any back-up… so I have no idea what you are talking about here.

Soooooo, you’re going to need to quote me. Otherwise, as before, you’ll need to stop getting so frothy. Just relax, Peev. One way or the other you’re going to need to stop proving me right.

  21. LearnedFoot Says:

Mitch doesn’t post for 2 days and all of a sudden everybody’s recycling an old thread for their flamewars. My God. If Mich decides to hang up blogging, you people might have to have actual human contact. *shudder*

    You make me sad.

  22. Badda Says:

This is Mitch’s blog?!?!?! I always thought it was Mr. Grumpy Pants up there.

  23. kel Says:

peev just needs some ME time with you guys – without it he is the loneliest of creatures – a narcissist in an empty room.
