I was emailed a photo of a purported OWS protestor dropping trou and crapping on a U.S. flag that was wadded on the pavement. So, if I understand things correctly, his act is “free speech.” If I should call him – for purposes of illustration – a “pinko commie fag”, though, it’s “hate speech”. Not that I would do such a thing of course, but if I wanted to, why should his offending me be protected, but my offending him be proscribed?
