Jackals,

Watching your “coverage” of the Vikings stadium issue, I have to wonder if you haven’t taken a leave of absence from your DFL gigs and taken on some sabbatical work for the Vikings and the NFL.

Look – we all know your management all want a new stadium; it means more money for your organizations.  We get that.

But get real; The NFL wants and needs a franchise here; it’s one of the best football markets per capita in revenue and ratings. Jacksonville, to pick one, is a bad, former expansion team in a market that only cares about college ball; it only makes good business sense for the Jags to move – if you care about good business.  And the NFL does; it’s just that as the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce will tell you, “getting free stuff from goverment” is good business – at least, in the short term.

The NFL is bluffing us. They, and Wilf, are like a bunch of spoiled teenagers manipulating their parents.

They’re not going to move.  But they will try to make the taxpayer think they will – and like any spoiled teenager they will manipulate you, the media, with your need to keep your own bills paid (and I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you’re not actively shilling on the NFL’s behalf – which is a bit of a stretch, WCCO and Star/Tribune, if you catch my drift).

That is all.

The LA Hombres. It has a nice ring to it. The nickname could be The Cartel.

The NFL should start builiding its own stadiums.

I hope so, but they said the same thing in Cleveland. And L.A., for that matter.

Jacksonville, to pick one, is a bad, former expansion team in a market that only cares about college ball; it only makes good business sense for the Jags to move – if you care about good business.

Jacksonville also has a lease that won’t expire until 2030. To keep the Vikings, someone needs to convince them to sign a lease. Do you suppose Mark Dayton will be persuasive?

A business where (a) owners feel entitled to make a substantial profit selling this biz where some of the assets owned were mainly paid for by others; (2) the employees make enough to retire for life after working less that a decade; (3) the product itself is priced so prohibitively that the product can only be purchased by a select few. Where’s the problem?

Seriously, all that’s required to end this nonsense is for every city to say “no”. If LA can be a profitable market, then they’ll get a franchise on it’s own merit.

LA has historically not been able to support an NFL Team. That’s why we now have the St. Louis Rams. Well, that and the fact that the Bidwells moved the Cardinals to Phoenix caused St. Louis to pony up to get them. Mitch is right though. The closest CA team to the Vikings in popularity is the Chargers at number 13. The Raiders don’t show up until number 25, with the 49ers coming in at 27. The Raiders moved to LA for a couple of years, then went back to Oakland.

Hey Ears, I can spot Liberal Fascism comand and control statism a mile away.
Who are you to dictate others retirement needs?

  7. Jeff Kouba Says:

I’ll give this to Jacksonville. There’s a spark of the musical muse there. Among the bands formed there are the Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet and .38 Special.

K-Rod, They can make as much as they want, provided their employer can build them a facility to play in without my help. Exactly what websites to you visit in the morning that tell you how to think? Life amongst the rest of us is more than just stereotypes. Pathetic.

  9. K-Rod Says:

    “Pathetic.”

Isn’t that just lovely. Ha ha ha Nice reply Ears, real nice. Bwwwaaahahahahaha

“(2) the employees make enough to retire for life after working less that a decade;”” proclaimed Ears, dictating what others have or don’t have for retirement.
