The Spirit Of ’72

By Mitch Berg

On the one hand, Barack Obama is throwing in his lot with a “mass movement” of professional protesters and  bobble-headed self-important “post”-adolescents…

Barack Obama, US president, offered more support for protesters against the global financial system after a weekend of demonstrations in cities around the world,

…more or less like George McGovern did.

On the other hand, he still wants as much of that Wall Street money as he can salvage:

but called on them not to “demonise” those who worked on Wall Street.

So perhaps they’re learning…

Yes, I find it very funny that one of these evil financial institutions now holds an account for these oppressed moochers. Further, along with their Wall Street cohorts, they have donated moe money to their Dear Leader than any other president in history, not to mention what was given to the puppets his corrupt cabal.

So Obama is “against the global financial system” after pumping hundreds of billions of borrowed dollars (from the global financial system) to prop up the global financial system. Makes perfect sense to me.

There’s nothing like feeding the hand that bites you.

But Kermit, you don’t understand that The Won’s biggest supporters would have seen their world end if their financial institutions went under. That’s why he bailed them out.

If you’re going to complain about Wall Street ruining the country you should have wanted them to fail because of all the bad decisions they made rather than bailing them out with TARP … like those evil nasty conservatives in Congress tried to do at the time.

The TARP vote was held on October 3, 2008.
Democrat representative vote, 172 in favor, 91 against.
GOP representative vote, 63 in favor, 108 against.

Nancy Pelosi was Speaker at the time of the vote.
I would bet that not one in a hundred OWS protesters knows that it was the Democrats, not the Republicans, who approved bailing out Wall Street.

  6. Kermit Says:

    It’s still George Bushes fault.

  7. Terry Says:

    That goes without saying, Kermit.
These OWS idiots will march down to their polling place in 2012 and cast their vote for the guy who voted for the first TARP as senator from Illinois and lobbied for the second TARP as president elect: “A measure to block the funds was voted down 42 to 52 after an intense lobbying campaign by the Obama economic team and by Obama himself. ”

Yes, but those were the important bankers and Wall Street types, not the cronies of Bushitler and Haliburton.

  9. Terry Says:

TARP (as amended) allowed Paulson to hand out public money to whatever banks and financial houses he chose with no congressional oversight. Obama voted to allow this travesty of democracy. For all we know Paulson shipped billions to the chicoms or Ahmadinejad. Hell, for all we know he pumped a billion or two into Cheney’s personal account. Obama voted for it, and he lobbied, personally, to extend it when he was president elect.
    Obama owns TARP.
