Just Between You, Me and the Fence-Post…

…I think it’s funny that the people who whinge the hardest when someone drops the “ic” from “Democratic”, alleging some Rovian conspiracy to insult Democraticicicics (as opposed to just not wanting to type the two extra letters)…

…are the same people who use the phrase “Swift-boating” to mean “character assassination”.  Ironically, at that.

Just saying.

That is all.

  1. Weren’t you recently whining about liberal bloggers’ use of the word “whining” to describe right-wing whining?

So you’re saying you prefer “whinging”?

    Whiner.

  2. Weren’t you recently whining about liberal bloggers’ use of the word “whining” to describe right-wing whining?

No. I was pointing out how many lame lefty pundits refer to any pointed complaint from the right as “whining”. It’s gotten to the point where it looks like a movement-wide pattern – like George Soros yanked the leftosphere’s leash or something.

  3. More a movement-wide pattern of whining on the right. Boo-hoo, we can’t teach creationism in school! Waaaah, Wal-Mart says “Happy Holidays!” Why can’t we just repeal the Constitution – I’m a-scared of terrorists!

  4. Not Soros, Atrois

…who is on Soros’ payroll at MM4A.

    Distinction without a difference.

And if Atrios says it, it’s probably crap.

  5. Kermit-
I’ll see your Whitewater & raise you a Vince Foster. Remember ‘White House Coffees’? Those were the days.

    AC-
“Boo-hoo, we can’t teach creationism in school! ”
Should be “Boo-hoo, we can’t teach creationism in schools we pay for!”, don’t you think. Creationsim vs evolution isn’t much of a controversy in private schools — except in California, where the teachers union is trying to keep kids who attend private school from attending state colleges if the private schools curricula doesn’t meet their ‘standards’. The ‘Wah! My tax dollars are being spent in a way I don’t like’ whine is not partisan.

  6. “Distinction without difference” – Mitch – that’s your middle name.

As you complain about Soros, so do you indict yourself with the same finger that claims a Rovian-conspiracy about dropping ic from Democratic. First, there was the fact that Fox circulated an internal memo saying that it’s staff were not to use Democratic any longer, but rather Democrat. Second, is frankly that you, an English major, ceased using Democratic, an adjective, where an adjective is called for, but instead use the noun, Democrat. Given your pendantic nature, this was no oversight, but rather clear indication of at least your desire to ‘go along with’ a PC slurring of the correct name of the party. One wonders why, Mitch? I’m sure NO memo ever came from anywhere saying that DemocratIC was passe’, or it never came up in conversation, right?

It doesn’t take Rove to create a subtle, but equally childish movement to debase your opposition in what is rightly described as a low-brow move aimed at incivility over substance, obfuscation before reasoned debate. So whether it was Rove, a convenient but unclaimed cannard, or merely the happy machinations of those bent more on victory than integrity, is hardly material. You’ve sucked from the Lee Atwater teet of vulgar incivility, and Rove or not, matters not, and is truly, a difference of no distinction.

Perhaps you can next tell us how PC’isms from the right are the manifestation of weird lefty brains thinking Rove is behind it all, when that’s merely artiface on your part attempting to dismiss reality by pointing at an easily denied unreality as the source. In short, your dissembling misdirection aside, the fact is, you don’t USE Democratic, and I don’t think you thought of not doing so on your own. Whether it was Rove is merely tangential fact of no relevance, please say that you stopped using Democratic merely of your own original thought, and we’ll consider stopping pointing out how hypocritical the neo-nutzie claims about rampant PCism really are.

  7. Mitch-
Did you know that your finger was claiming that there is a Rovian conspiracy to drop the ‘ic’ from Democratic?

  8. Can someone create a new user ID called “Cliff’s Notes” and condense everything that Peev says down to a sentance or two? (Usually, “Conservatives are evil and mean, Bush is Hitler” or whatever he ends up saying.)

  9. First, there was the fact that Fox circulated an internal memo saying that it’s staff were not to use Democratic any longer, but rather Democrat.

Well, let’s stop there. You say it’s a “fact”. Perhaps it is. But it sounds at least equally likely to be an “urban legend”, or given Atrios’ involvement, perhaps “BS”.

Second, is frankly that you, an English major, ceased using Democratic, an adjective, where an adjective is called for, but instead use the noun, Democrat.

Democrat can be both a noun and an adjective. Hence I use it as both, and it and Democratic pretty much interchangeably as an adjective.
