I’m Trying To Remember…
By Mitch Berg
…the name of a Led Zeppelin song.
It’s the one that goes “Grunk-grunk-grunk [pow] grunk-grunk-grunk, grunk-grunk-grunk, Graaaaaw, grunk-grunk-grunk, [pow, bump bump pow] “Oooooooh”, grunk-grunk-grunk [pow] grunk-grunk-grunk, grunk-grunk-grunk grunk grunk-grunk-grunk [pow, bump bump pow].
Any ideas?

Houses of the Holy?

As you know there are quite a few Zeppelin songs with multiple grunks in them.
You can borrow my iPod…I think I have all the good Led Zeppelin songs on it.

I’m not sure, but I think Mitch is trying to be a smart-ass Led Zeppelin-wise.

Kerm,
No, I know that one!
J,
Might take you up on that!
Colleen,
Yes and no. But you got the “yes” part pretty dead-on. 🙂

Jeez…all you have to do is listen to KQRS and you get a Led Zep song twice per hour. Sooner or later, you’ll hear the song your looking for, Mitch!
(Which is why I haven’t listened to KQ in over 10 years. If you tune in and do NOT hear a Zep song…or a Stones song…just wait a few minutes and you will!)

Haven’t listened to KQ in 15 years (I actually liked it in college) but I’m guessing it’s still Led Zepplin, Bob Segar, and a small number of other oldies rock that just….gets old after 30 years.

Yeah after you hear “Magic Bleepin’ Carpet Ride” for the 35,987th time, it does start to get a little old.

Mitch,
I like Zeppelin… but they ALL sound like that.

Houses of the Holy?
No, Houses of the Holy is more like “Buh braw buh grunk gunk, buh braw buh grunk grunk, GRUNK GRUNK, Buh braw buh grunk gunk, buh braw buh grunk gunk, breep-beep-a-beep, Bronk Brawwwww, “In the houses of the ho-lee..”

Steppenwolf sucked 20 years ago and still sucks now. But don’t tell that to the PD at KQ. They gotta get their hourly quota of songs NOBODY likes into the rotation.

And while we’re on the subject of K-Clueless…I haven’t voluntarily listened to Tom “Blowhard” Bernard in over 10 years. I used to love listening….listened to him from the early 80’s through the mid ’90’s.
Then I realized how bitter and angry the guy had gotten. And how EVERY damn “joke” or “bit” they did was based on a body excretion. He didn’t just ride that horse into the ground…he drove it through to China.

I like Led Zeppelin a lot (top 5 of all time), but do not want to hear them twice an hour. That’s the trouble with most radio…whether it’s country or classic rock or whatever.
I can feel the flak coming for this one already, BUT, there’s a Christian music station out of Int’l Falls (NOT the Mennonite one!) and at first it was enjoyable to hear lots of the current praise songs…til you realized they are the same 5 over and over and over. I started to hate those songs….back to MPR Classical for me. Not much news, most of the songs sound pretty much alike anyway, and we turn it down when Keillor does his little bit around 5:30 (oh, that man’s voice makes me nauseous). It’s just nice to have a calming background noise. The morning show is fantastic. It can go from Steve Earle to funny songs to Jimi Hendrix to buegrass to Springsteen.

Could this have anything to do with a certain announcement just made public? Jimmy Page has run short of cash?

I Can’t Quit You Baby (the Coda version, not the one off the first album).
