Airman Nick
By Mitch Berg
Congrats to the Flash family; Nick has graduated from USAF Basic Training at Lackland AFB in Texas:

I’ve known Nick since he was four or five or so. He’s off to learn how to run drones.

THANKS, Mitch!
I couldn’t be more proud. Leaving for Graduation parade and the Town Pass. The new Airman has been in San Antonio for 8 weeks and hasn’t seen much more than the Airport and Lackland! LOL

Hey flash;
Tell your son congrats from a USAF veteran!
You are correct about the time at Lackland – that’s about all Basic Training grunt do see.

Congrats, Flash — I greatly appreciate your son’s service!

Congratulations, Flash and Airman Nick. My brother “matriculated” at Lackland back in ’79.

I’ll buy him a beer next time he’s in town.

I’ll buy him a beer next time he’s in town.
The bad news: He’s still just 18. In a year, he’ll be handing millions of dollars worth of ultra-high-tech gear, but god forbid he get a beer (or a carry permit) legally!
The good news: If there’s any new airman from StPaul who could, hyopthetically, get a beer – not that Flash would allow any such thing – it might, in theory, be Airman Nick.
Again, purely hypothetical.

Mitch;
Excellent point! At 19, my proficiency in my career field qualified me to be a Crew Chief on a B-52 bomber. Every time it flew, the lives of at least 7 men were at stake. I can’t remember how much those were worth back in 1973, but it had a lot of zeroes in the number, with priceless value on the Flight Crew. Being stationed in your home state, I couldn’t get a beer there, either. I just jumped across the border into Minnesota to get one. 😉

Thanks again, all! We had a GREAT day at the Alamo and Rover walk. Tomorrow we think we are going to just lounge at the hotel and hang at the pool!

Cool. I gotta visit there someday; my cousin lives there.
