From The Depths Of Page 22

In an op-ed in the Strib, the Freedom Foundation’s Jonathan Blake  Jo unload’s on the left’s (and media’s) hypocrisy on Target (emphasis added):

The recent uproar over Target Corp.’s $150,000 contribution to MN Forward, a business-friendly political action committee that is running ads in favor of a probusiness gubernatorial candidate, has officially become a media phenomenon, covered in virtually all of the state’s newspapers, blogs and TV newscasts. It’s even made national news.

Meanwhile, Minnesota’s largest public employee unions have already spent five times that sum, more than $750,000, on the upcoming election, virtually all of it in support of a single political party and its allies. That story has been relegated to deep inside the local section, if it is covered at all.

That’s because the owner of the “local section” has a dog in the fight.

Their refusal to endorse Emmer in a primary that he’s going to win by 90 points is kind of a tell…

  1. For the last 3 years the Strib has been trying desperately to sell the 4+ city blocks they own next to the Metrodome with the dream being that the sale will make them solvent again. Their best hope would be a compliant DFL (redundant) legislature and a supine DFL Governor pushing through a funding bill for the new Vikings stadium sited on their parcels of land at their asking price. So the Strib has a lot at stake in this election given the rate at which they are losing subscribers and ad revenue – they also will be needing a bailout for their underfunded retiree/pension plan in a couple years and that is not likely to happen if Emmer is elected.

  2. A) How much has the gay groups spent bashing Target? Couldn’t they just give that money to liberal candidates?

    B) Is see MDE is talking about the large sum of cash Mystic Lake casino is giving to Democrat front groups.

  3. The more I hear about this, the more it becomes apparent. This is a parrallel thing to the NAACP accusing the Tea Party movement of so-called “racism”. This has nothing to do with gay marriage. This has to do with left wing Democrat groups trying to get Minnesota businesses back on the reservation.

  4. I have for years wanted Education Minnesota and the DFL investigated under federal RICO law. If ever there was a graft-riddled, incestuous, corrupt conspiracy, this one is it.
With Eric Holder as Attorney General, the Chicago Machine will be investigated first. Which is to say never.
