Convention Wisdom

By Mitch Berg

I’ll be live-blogging the State GOP Convention this weekend – provided, of course, that the wifi situation pans out at the Convention Center.

My current plan is to attend, and live-blog, the State Auditor endorsement on Thursday, as well as the race for the Governor nod on Friday.  I may also pop in to some of the other stops at the party.

This won’t be my first state convention, per se; I did manage to attend an afternoon session at the ’04 convention; the NARN broadcast, of course, from the ’06 event.  We won’t be broadcasting this year, unfortunately – but that means I actually get to pay attention to what’s going on on the floor.

So it’ll be great!

Stay tuned!

I have an unavoidable conflict Thursday night, otherwise I’d stop by and toss Pat one more endorsement. I will be there all day and night Friday (hopefully carpooling with Lassie from FreedomDogs – she’s my precinct chair – whoda thunk it?). I doubt I’ll be there after that. After sitting thru 2 hours of minutiae and tug-o-war at the CD5 with a defined endpoint, don’t feel the need to sit thru unknown hours at state with no defined endpoint.

From a well-placed GOP source I understand that wi-fi will be available to all attendees. Password is: Scaife

  3. Ben Says:

Thanks Chad I will be bringing my Emmer POS laptop down on to the floor. Should be interesting.

  4. Master of None Says:

This will be my first convention. I’m ready to get all up and unified.

  5. Dave Thul Says:

Chairman Sutton just said on the delegate conference call that there will be wi-fi available and that they hope to generate a buzz with all the bloggers and twiterers.

    Is twiterer a word?

  6. Ben Says:

i think you left out a ‘t’ Dave. Twitterers or tweeters I guess, sounds almost as bad as teabaggers, :/

  7. Ben Says:

Bill, as I understand it these things tend to run a little more efficiently due to the fact most people view it as a long party weekend. Hopefully people will be sober enough to vote for governor on friday night.

  8. Uncle Jed Says:

Which one of these two hapless chuckleheads is the rino?

  9. Uncle Jed Says:

More importantly, who is running against mark ritchie? Isn’t he the acorn drone? Hope we don’t rock the boat or make any waves, just be nice.

  10. Mitch Berg Says:

    Jed,

“Rino” is one of those things in the eye of the beholder. Neither is a rino to me.

Dan Severson is running for SOS, andhe’s not interested in making nice with Ritchie. Check him out.
