Tea For 10,000

By Mitch Berg

The second annual Minnesota Tea Party is coming up this afternoon on the State Capitol grounds.  It’ll start at five, and run well into the evening.

Last year, at least 7,000 Americans turned out in Minnesota – among a turnout of at least 600,000 nationwide that stunned the nation’s newly-installed “elite”.  It turned out that for a good chunk of America, Obama didn’t bring the change they’d really hoped for.

Let me say that again; 7,000 Minnesotans (or, as the media said, “dozens), working people with families and lives, turned out on a work day, Tax Day besides, to…protest.  Something that “conservatives” have never done as a group.

It’s going to be much bigger this year.  Polls show more people support the Tea Party’s ideals than those of the President and his administration.

And the Parties have the Liberals running scared.  They tried to ignore the movement last year – which lasted until the headcount crept into six figures.  Then they tried mocking them – the constant, thud-witted “teabagger” references that have become a sign of a sandblasted intellect among smart people.  Finally came the attacks – literal ones, like the SEIU thugs who put the black conservative protester in the hospital at a town hall meeting in Saint Louis, and figurative ones like the tsunami of defamation in the past month.

More substantive signs of their fear?  If the Tea Party were not a harbinger of a wave of discontent, Pelosi and Reid could have relaxed a bit, and not jammed Obamacare down with the Chicago-like ruthlessness they had to use.  They are scared out of their wits.

I’ll be speaking first at the rally today.  I’ll hope to see you there.

Ha, ha, didn’t you get the memo? The Teabaggers have finally accepted being called Teabaggers. Really you guys, show some class.

  2. Troy Says:

Mention a “sandblasted intellect” and Tim in StP appears to present an example of one. He may not be able to read a memo, but he can misinterpret a video!

  3. Kermit Says:

Can I call Tim a sodomite?

  4. Mitch Berg Says:

    Tim In SandblastedintellectPaul,

We’re mocking those who defame us; we’re turning your (pl) stupidity back on you.

Read Cyrano De Bergerac. I’m sure there’s an edition with pictures.

  5. Ben Says:

Tim, also being the teabaggER is better than being the teabaggEE. Since were teabaggers, we have to be teabagging something and that something is liberals. Read the urban dictionary sometime and lighten up you dense moronic liberal.

The second good laugh I’ve had here today.

  7. Tim in StP Says:

Uh, yeah, “Ben”, I’ll take your word for it.

  8. Tim in StP Says:

Can I call Tim a sodomite?

I’ll keep an ear out for ya Kerm, but it’s gonna be hard what with the din of glargity-glarg sounds coming from the Capitol today.

Also, mind those commie infiltrators! The only racist signs there should be the ones you guys bring.

  9. Kermit Says:

Tim, I hate to break the news to you, but sodomy has nothing to do with ears. Look it up on the interwebs.

  10. Terry Says:

How can you consider yourself a patriotic American when your sympathies lie with the tea-taxers instead of the blokes throwing the tea overboard?

  11. Ben Says:

Tim unlike you I am not afraid to hide behind a name, my posts ink directly to my blog and almost anyone can tell you on this site that Ben is my real legal name, why would you think I would be using a fake name? Talk to AC, Pen, Odin, and other liberal commentators on this site, because it seems like they have more to hide than I do.

“…sodomy has nothing to do with ears. Look it up on the interwebs.”

There you go again, Kerm. Trying to force the scary smart, reality based community to bow to your narrow definition of how they should conduct their lives.

If teh moonbats say sodomy includes ears, then damn it, ears are included!

    Racist.

working people with families and lives, turned out on a work day,

Funny, to you, when liberals protest, it’s because they don’t have jobs. When conservatives protest, it’s despite the fact they have jobs.

  14. Mitch Berg Says:

To a certain extent, it’s smack talk.

To another, if you hang out at enough of these things you see how many lefties at protest are people who are able to pretty easily work protesting into their schedule; they’re students, they’re non-profit workers for whom going to protests is part of the gig, they’re retirees, union members who’ve been bussed to the scene, college kids…

Again, I don’t want to make too much out of stereotypes; I used to be a liberal. But like a lot of stereotypes, there’s a grain of truth.

  15. DiscordianStooj Says:

    Union members don’t have jobs?

    “smack talk”

Hey, it’s not your fault that conservatives all work cushy 9-5 jobs behind a desk and don’t have to do any real work.

Enjoy the fantastic weather at the rally.

  16. K-Rod Says:

Stool, the unemployment rate in March went up. Unfortunately this depression does not discern between those that support policies that deepen the job losses from those that do not.

  17. Terry Says:

When liberals protest, it’s to get other people’s stuff. When conservatives protest, it’s to keep what they’ve earned.

  18. Mitch Berg Says:

vHey, it’s not your fault that conservatives all work cushy 9-5 jobs behind a desk and don’t have to do any real work.

Yeah, well, pay attention in school and party less and don’t knock anyone up or get knocked up when you’re 15 and it’s a lot easier to get a job that doesn’t involved protective footwear. Not that I haven’t done those too (and not that I don’t have a pair of steel toed Reds handy just in case…)

I’m not sure how “focusing on getting a good job” is somehow ignoble.

    But the weather was fantastic.

Funny how liberal rallies usually start at noon-2PM, and conservative at 5PM. All them liberals must have night jobs or something.

  20. DiscordianStooj Says:

I was doing a little smack talk back there, mitch. Really, it’s OK.

JPI – yeah, or they work weekends. No really, there are people who work off hours, and they sometimes are liberals. Except at my job, where I’m the only one.
