I’ve been reminding a lot of people of that summer, and I vividly remember working outside all that summer. 104 in the shade and downwind of a manure pile and goose pen does wonders for one’s study ethic the next semester in college.

I remember those hot, sticky Summers in Minnesota. It gets hot down here too, but we don’t have to shower off a nasty paste of crushed mosquitos and sweat every few hours.
What’s the mosquito forecast up there in HaCK today, rAT? Coudy, partly cloudy or raining? Listen, I’ve got a million dollar idea for you. It’s a bespoke gown of mosquito netting that covers a poor wretch from head to toe, with just a little slit to see out of, like muzzy women.

I was living in West Saint Paul in 1988. 105 degrees, but IIRC it was a dry heat. I stopped riding my ’84 Sportster that day (last year of the ironhead sporties) because the oil was running 235 deg.

We deny that the activities of mankind are the cause of climate change and therefore forcing people to alter their behavior will have no effect on climate change.

Anticipating that the nuances won’t be unpacked and explained by the great critical thinkers running the show, I suggest they are threefold: laziness, mischief and greed. I’ll never forget 1988. This is not even close to 1988.
I follow durangoweatherguy on Facebook. He posted this yesterday: “We have short-term weather memories and forget how cold it was this spring and during the beginning of the summer. The truth is the heat has only been in place for about 2 1/2 weeks. When you look at the average temperatures over the last 45 days it has been average to below average in most of the US. This data is from NOAA’s CDAS (the climate data assimilation system). It shows the average temperatures over the last 45 days.”
The map had a whole lot of blue in it. People were commenting from around the world about how unseasonably cool it’s been where they live. We’re being gaslit so damn hard this year it’s amazing.

No need to do any thinking until evidence is presented.
The single bigggest factor which undermines the Anthroprogenic Climate Change theory is the ever-changing data sets. That raises suspicions that the ‘scientists’ are not seeking to Disprove the theory (traditional Baconian scientific practice) but instead are trying to Bolster the theory (traditional Democrat political practice).
It would help immensely if someone could produce a chart based on consistent data which showed three lines: human activity, sunspot activity and temperature.
A correlation between temperature rise and human activity while simultaneously showing no link to sunspot activity would be compelling.
Note I said “consistent” data. Saying “as of today, we now measure temperature at the ground instead of six feet above ground, as we have for a hundred years” makes me suspect you’re really saying “the old data didn’t prove my theory so I came up with new data which does.” That’s not compelling.
Some of your collective claim to have science degrees, Emeries. Go ahead. Make the chart. Link to the data bases used. Convince us.

Especially one that is situated in the middle of an urban area with it vast expanses of heat trapping concrete, energy absorbing tar paper roofs and blasting air conditioners.

The problem with climate scientists is that they don’t act like scientists, they act like propagandists with a political objective. The use deceptive charts, stats, and sampling methods. If there is a record high temp in some part of the globe, they talk about it non-stop as another sign of the coming climate apocalypse, if there is a record low temp . . . silence. And they have no problem pointing the finger at particular industries as the bad guys.
You know what? “Climate science” is about human behavior, just like . . . politics.
