So, here’s a picture of Governor Walz with Lt. Governor Flanagan, taken back during the “trifecta”.
She was inescapable. She was in every photo with Walz. Her name may have been more prominent on their campaign signs.
The media actively dolled her up:
The camera and their photo selection didn’t do half bad by her.
At times it seemed as if the local media were just as much her PR firm as Walz’s.
And now – this:

That – combined with the Rochelle Olson/Ryan Faircloth piece we talked about earlier – makes it look like Walz is trying to distance himself from Flanagan.
Why?
Because polling isn’t showing “DSA whackjobbery” is doing well?
Or because they’re both going to be running for Governor?

Any marriage of political convenience has an expiration date linked to when you’re of limited use to the other. Marriages of serial fabulists to serial backstabbers are especially short-lived.

To me, multiple sources who spoke on condition of anonymity means, at best, catty TMZ gossip. Like about what’s happening in the House of Windsor and Queen Elizabeth and Princess Di and so on ad nauseum.
And no, even if that so-called thin ice breaks and there’s a real rift with names and dates, the reporting on it now is still catty gossip.

Could be TMZ gossip, or a kernel of truth could be Walz being already grouchy at losing, and then seeing Flanagan measuring the windows for new drapes was not what he wanted to see. No surprise there, really, and I’d almost be surprised if there was not such friction. The relevant question is whether it would be a permanent rift. I’m guessing that the slavish pursuit of political power will prevent that.
