Just As In 2016

By Mitch Berg

In 2016, I was a Trump skeptic. I voted for Scott Walker (who I still think would have made, and would make, a great President, in the same way Ron DeSantis would, and hopefully will in four years).

As I noted on the eve of the 2016 election, and as we awaited the inauguration, I agreed with fellow Trump skeptic Dennis Prager; I was a little apprehensive, but I figured if we got a good SCOTUS nominee out of the deal, it’d all wash out over time.

Trump turned out to be a good President on a policy level (I have to strenuously ignore “rhetorical Trump” to focus on “policy Trump”) – and we got three good, solid conservative justices out of the term.

On the eve of the 2016 election I wrote, “If Hillary wins, I’ll cry. If Trump wins, I’ll laugh my butt off – and then I’ll cry.”

On the eve of the 2016 election, as it became clear that Trump was going to win, my neighborhood (Whittier) sounded like Egypt during the 10th plague…..women and men were weeping, shrieking, and screaming ‘Nooooooo’.

    Still makes me laugh.

Apropos policy, The Republican National Committee (RNC) Platform Committee has officially adopted former President Donald Trump’s 2024 Republican Party Platform with what it described as “overwhelming” support, detailing the comprehensive plan in a press release with 20 main points. ^ Good one, Mr Jones. Unfortunately, I’m moving in the direction to conclude that not so many – not enough – really, truly understand yet the consequences of another 4 years of the Biden DemoCommie oligarchy.

I remember seeing a video about a bunch of snarky 30-60-something women who held a street party in the neighorhood down by (where else?) Minnehaha Creek. They were all dressed in pantsuits, in homage to Hillary.

And the video followed them (sympathetically) as it went from smug premature celebration to horror to crushing depression.

I hate indulging in Schadenfreud, but I’m only human so I laughed my butt off.

JDM: RE: The 2025 agenda list:

Sadly, one critical thing is lacking from that list: Reduce federal government spending. Without spending cuts, the deficit and debt will just get worse. The “Cut funding to schools pushing CRT etc.” is a start, but we need serious entitlement reform and reductions in bureaucracy. MANY peoples’ oxen need goring. Trump is the only person on the national stage who has the balls to whip out the flensing devices.

Sorry, I meant the 2024 Platform. Scratch the 2025 Agenda. I was mixing up Mitch’s posts.

Bill C, your comment is quite true. I was just posting for informational purposes.
