Pretty Vacant

By Mitch Berg

Mary Moriarty broke with a couple decades of Henco Prosecutor tradition and used the State’s sentence enhancement for using a gun in a crime:

Wait – wut?

A north Minneapolis man has been sentenced to 15 1/2 years in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release for illegal possession of a firearm after engaging in a shootout in north Minneapolis.

Charges in the Dec. 20, 2021, case say police found Dominique Marquise McCaskel with a gunshot wound to his neck and shoulder on the 3600 block of Aldrich Avenue North after responding to a report of a shooting.

According to the charging document and dispatch audio at the time, police subsequently located surveillance video that showed McCaskel walking at the location as a suspect vehicle rounded the corner. McCaskel was seen on video running toward the suspect vehicle and an exchange of gunfire ensued. Casings were initially located by police, and a witness came forward and showed police where the gun was that had been in McCaskel’s possession at the time of the gunfire exchange and shooting. Police also found that McCaskel had several suspected fentanyl pills and cash on his person.

The Feds did it?

Yep. I was just yanking your collective chain. Moriarty has never used the state’s sentence enhancement for using a gun in a crime. Either did Freeman before her. I don’t know that Klobuchar ignored it when she was Henco prosecutor, so I won’t say one way or the other, but let’s be honest, probably not.

In Ramco? Choi has never used it – his office even specifically denied it was an appropriate charge in a case where it was clearly precisely appropriate. Either did Susan Gaertner before him. Either did Tom Foley before her.

Hennepin County is letting the Feds do the heavy lifting.

Huh. Wonder why?

It is the influence of Kamala, She was a prosecutor, you know, a real law and order type. Crime. It’s going to be a big issue in the next election

That’s why Democrats need to dump Let’s go Brandon next time round

  2. Greg Says:

WE NEED MORE GUN LAWS ( which we will never use, unless of course, the case involves someone wearing a MAGA or John Deere cap)

  3. bikebubba Says:

Gosh, it’s not like the police are understaffed, and putting many criminals in jail for easy open & shut cases would take those criminals out of the business for a while or anything.

Oh, wait. That’s exactly the case.

Greg, I believe a Ford or International cap would work well, too. No?

HennCo is now actively emptying its prisons: https://alphanews.org/law-professor-takes-position-in-hc-attorneys-office-will-focus-on-offender-sentence-reduction/

  5. John "Bigman" Jones Says:

Think of the devastating effect such a policy would have on racial disparities in criminal convictions. There wouldn’t be a police station left unburned in the entire city

  6. Maga Mammuthus Primigenesis Says:

It’s obvious that the plan is to reduce the sentences based on racial discrimination. Of course, the ACLU will support this. This is the epitome of woke.

  7. bikebubba Says:

UMMP: yes, and the people hurt the worst are going to be in the very minority communities they’re trying to help. But what’s a son or two buried too young when you’re making sure that criminals don’t actually spend time in the pokey?

  8. Greg Says:

Greg, I believe a Ford or International cap would work well, too. No?

Yeah, I’d steer clear of Cabelas or Fleet Farm caps too.

The only way to safely wear any baseball style hat in Minni-Venezuela would be to rip it off at the first sign of a sneer and reveal a man-bun.

  9. bosshoss429 Says:

I would really like to hand out the home addresses of every prog, appointed or elected, to these criminals as they are released and tell them the the person who lives there keeps $10,000 in cash in the house at all times. But, the humanitarian in me wouldn’t want any of their kids hurt. Why should they suffer because their parents are dumb asses?

  10. bikebubba Says:

The progressives have $10,000 apiece in their homes, which are gun free zones.

  11. justplainangry Says:

Don’t worry boss, they’ll find them, because they will be the only ones left once every productive person leaves the state. Well, them and those who did not vote hard enough.

  12. justplainangry Says:

Right on cue, lol! You can’t make this shit up!

The small town of Goodhue, Minn., is set to lose its entire police force next Wednesday after ten officers announced their intention to resign over lack of funding.

    And it’s not even metroplex!

  13. John "Bigman" Jones Says:

They have 10 cops for a city of 1200 people? There’s more people than that in my apartment complex and we don’t have any cops

the city should contract with the county to provide law enforcement services. gotta be cheaper than hiring your own cops

  14. jdm Says:

According to this story from MPR (take it for what it’s worth), it’s the chief of police, one full-time guy, and five part-timers. That’s 4 1/2 to me.

Also, small towns like Goodhue usually have a deal with the county sheriff. That’s what my town in rural MN which has over 5k people does.

  15. jdm Says:

Weird. Comment disappeared when I posted it and when I tried to do it again, I was told it was a duplicate comment. Even tho’ it’s not published. Tried again and nothing. Blade’s complaints about comments disappearing is true.

  17. jdm Says:

^ Have Science Experts addressed this volcano? Could it be that the volcano’s appearance is due to climate change? I mean, do we have any records of that volcano from before Man began polluting the environment with CO2?

  18. John "Bigman" Jones Says:

I dunno, jdm, it’s just pretty darned convenient that volcanic eruptions of the past resulted in Cooling the planet but this one is Warming it. Instead of getting a break from Mother Nature she’s doubling down.

  19. jdm Says:

^ Ah-ha! that I can answer. Actually. The reason for the warming is that the volcano is/was underwater and erupted (massive amounts of) water vapor instead of (a whole lotta) smoke. Water vapor warms, and smoke cools.

The underwater volcano clearly messed up the DemoCommie Narrative. Therefore, it didn’t happen. At least until a new Narrative can be written that will keep Man at fault.

Bodycam footage of the Fargo cop killer: https://twitter.com/i/status/1692258729108902171
Unbelievable. the wages of teaching black people that they are in a race war.

  22. Bill C Says:

MMP: Given his name, his actions could be a result of his religious beliefs as opposed to racial beliefs.

  23. Bill C Says:

The bodycam of that officer showed he had incredible restraint. The suspect had just shot 3 cops. I’m surprised the officer didn’t completely “stop the threat”, making sure that that threat was never able to threaten again.

  24. bikebubba Says:

For reference, the perp (deceased, thank God) appears to be Caucasian, of Syrian origin. Agreed that the officer showed restraint–only reason I can think of to not just drop him then & there is to find out who he might have been working with.
