Questions No Democrat Can, Will, Or Is Allowed To Answer
By Mitch Berg
It may have felt like I was picking on “Emery” last week, asking him to define exactly when “his” life developed enough moral value that it his. mother would have ceased being able to abort “him”.
Of course, someone who can’t define when their own life acquired moral weight also can’t, logically, tell you why it’s OK for their mother not to abort them now. “I’m alive”. OK – since when? And why? What is this magical threshold? Whistling and hoping the question goes away isn’t much more intellectually honest than telling your teenagers that the stork brings babies.
But I have yet to meet a Democrat, anywhere, at any level, who can, will or, I suspect, is allowed to try to answer that question.
So, that’s one such question.
What are the rest?
Let’s build a list: the questions no Democrat can, will, or is allowed to answer:
When Did It Become Not Acceptable For Your Mother To Abort You.
Not some generic woman. Not some abstract fetus. Your mom, and you. When did your life gain moral standing? When did your body (and, uh, associated consciousness, mind, spirit or soul) become someone with its own bodily autonomy?
How Can You Tell “Universal” Background Checks Are Working Without A Registry?
The police find a gun. They suspect that the person who got the gun to the perp didn’t take a background check. If the record doesn’t exist tying a transfer to the perp, how do you prove it if all of them aren’t kept on record?
And how is this record – of data points, almost like, I dunno, a base of data (is there a word for that) kept, without a registry?
So, What City Got (Sustainably) More Affordable After Rent Control?
Beyond New York and San Francisco, the list of places with rent control and the list of cities with literally zero habitable affordable housing are pretty much the same list.
Why do high school kids earning Minimum Wage – who, according to the BLS, overwhelmingly live in homes with middle class incomes – need a “living wage”?
Don’t say “because many of them support their families” – most of them don’t, and as we saw last week, the “living wage” has slashed low-income jobs in the Twin Cities.
So…why?
I’d like to continue the list. Any others?

The GOP knows this is a losing topic for them in a general election. Republicans were surprised by how forcefully voters turned out to reject anti-abortion laws last year, even in red states. This says it all. A party that does not fundamentally understand why women want to have control over their own bodies is not fit to govern.

Liberals confidently assert that all cultures are equally valid; therefore, it is an act of oppression to insist that Americans behave according to the standards of Western Civilization rather than some other cultures.
Other cultures currently have multiple marriage, forced marriage, honor killing, female genital mutilation, slavery, torture and capital punishment but prohibit homosexuality and abortion.
Should the US adopt their cultural standards of behavior, or retain our own?

If the last few elections were free and fair, why are the government officials accused of fraud in the conduct of the election, fighting so hard to conceal the evidence?
Why not throw open the books, count all the ballots by hand, reveal the voting macine operating codes, and shine the light of public disclosure on the entire electoral process to reassure the public there is nothing to hide?

Dozens of questions asked with no problem. One question threw me into moderation. Guess which problem I asked about? Hint: the solution is to Vote Harder.
How can we blame Liberals for failing to answer questions that Conservatives are prohibited from asking?

Gov. Walz says he knows the gas tax hits poor people hardest but is open to raising it because “people will understand.”
Do you agree that balancing the books on the backs of the poor is wise public policy?

EMERY: “At what point in your mother’s pregnancy with you was it no longer OK to abort you?”
I’ll join the chorus…you are a moral coward…see yourself out troll.

A party that does not fundamentally understand why women want to have control over their own bodies is not fit to govern.
Sounds like the party of junk science and vaccine mandates. Oh, wait.
At what point are the women sharing their body with another human being? With a 50% of also being female? At what point does that human being start to have rights that cannot trampled upon by the woman exercising her rights?

Women do have control over their own bodies. Go ahead, have sex with anybody you want, I’m not stopping you.
But when you choose to engage in acts which result in the creation of another human life, then abortion is no longer “my body, my choice.” Then it becomes “my convenience or my baby’s life” and that’s not an equal balance.
Abortions for rape and incest could be considered for those situations where the woman had no control over the act which got her pregnant, if we could agree all other abortions are off limits.
I could even see my way clear to joining the rest of the civilized world and permitting abortions up until the end of the first trimester, if we could agree that abortions after that are off limits. The vast majority of Americans would go for that compromise.
But Liberals will not. They insist on abortion on demand up to the very moment of birth and that’s why we can never reach a compromise. It’s not us, it’s them.

“Chicago must lead with and live by the promise to be a sanctuary city and welcome immigrants and refugees, and treat them with dignity and respect. This sanctuary promise must extend to everyone who needs it in our city, and residents both old and new.”
Bussing immigrants and refugees from Texas to Chicago? “It’s wicked. It’s unconscionable. But as you all know, the city of Chicago is coming together to make sure that people who wish to find real comfort here in the city of Chicago, that we provide that.”
Why is it wicked for others to provide immigrants and refugees transportation to the sanctuary city that welcomes them? For that matter, why isn’t the sanctuary city providing the transportation?

Is the Smithsonian Institute’s characterization of White Aericans as hard working, ambitious and respectful of justice in its “Aspects and Assumptions of White Culture in the United States” a fair and accurate representation of White Americans?

To the extent other racial groups do not share those traits, does that make them lazy, shiftless and thieving?

If a mental illness such as pedophilia should be a protected class for purposes of discrimination, as Minnesota DFL legislators assert, then schools and youth organizations would be required to hire people having a sexual attraction to children for positions of authority over those same children.
Should the Catholic church and Boy Scouts get kudos for bravely staking out this enlightened, progressive policy long before it became fashionable?
