Mark Levin had the comment of the week last night: “Do any of the congressional Republicans play football? Just wondering, because as you know, the NFL has an issue with deflated balls. I’m just sayin’…”

And of course the tangential Minnesota relationship is that Tom Brady’s mother grew up on a dairy farm between the central Minnesota villages of Clarissa and Browerville. Tom used to spend his summers on that farm where his grandfather, Gordy Johnson, set up a tire in the backyard for young Tom to practice throwing the football (can’t tell you if it was properly inflated or not).
Gordy was the town barber in Clarissa and used to cut my hair on a regular basis. I remember meeting Tom one Christmas when he was visiting his Grandma Bernice at the local nursing home while I was visiting my grandmother. He was a youth at the time and I don’t remember much else about the young Tom.
