Don’t Look Behind the Curtain (Please)

By Johnny Roosh

Obama’s euphoric groupies need to be reeled in a bit. Apparently their expectations of Obama exceed him.

Barack Obama’s senior advisers have drawn up plans to lower expectations for his presidency if he wins next week’s election, amid concerns that many of his euphoric supporters are harbouring unrealistic hopes of what he can achieve.

Now they tell us. Good thing I haven’t voted yet. Just in time to switch to McCain.

Nonetheless, I wonder what expectations they are referring to?

Here’s one: That he is qualified to be President.

I actually giggled to myself when I read this. The election isn’t even over. Obama’s supporters are actually whipped to such a froth that his handlers feel the need to prepare lowered expectations for delivery to his sycophant disciples once and if he achieves the office of the President.

Let me see if I (or you in the comments) can be of assistance…

Hope will now become Mild Despair

Change will now become Slightly Less of The Same

We Are The People We Have Been Waiting For will now become Please Hold The Line; Calls Will Be Handled In The Order They Were Received

Tax cuts to 95% of Americans will become New Online Access to the Unemployment Benefits Application Process

Spread the Wealth will become Oops. Sorry About Your Job.

Affordable Health Care For Everyone will become Is There A Doctor In The House?

Okay, you give it a try…

That’s all Angryclown ever wanted, after all. For you guys to be eating your hearts out for four years. Is that so wrong?

I would feel bad for Mitch who, after all, is a friend and a good fellow. But I think he does his best work from the opposition anyway. So everybody wins!

    Hope. Change. Unhappy wingnuts.

As I’ve said, though I don’t know if I’ve said it here. Neither Obama NOR McCain are great, they may have greatness thrust upon them, we’ll see.. but I expect Obama will stand in the way of needed change less than McCain.

Neither one has a clue how bad things are, neither one is prepared for how much things have to change – and it’s pretty clear, the conservatives reading this blog aren’t aware either.

Kermit – if you can name a policy Bush employed that ACTUALLY worked, outside I suppose getting out of the Pentagon’s way in Iraq, I’ll consider your comment clever – otherwise – he’s been an unmitigated disaster from my perspective, and the perspective of nearly 75% of the American electorate it seems.

  8. Kermit Says:

Peev, your perpsective is skewed. Heavily. You have the most selective perception I have ever observed. How bad things sre? Really? You hopping on your bike for the weekly trip to the food shelf? Are you having trouble sidestepping all of the starving, homeless people on the sidewalk?
You are a one-man cliche factory, Peev.

But tell me, how many 9/11 attacks on U.S. soil in the last 7+ years?Where is the blood running in American streets?

Some people see the glass half-empty, some see it half full. You refuse to look at the glass, because you don’t like the hand that holds it.

“Name one Bush policy that actually worked.” Well, the tax cuts, obviously. Everybody got to keep more of their money, more revenue came in, and, to keep hitting Libs over the head with it, the ‘Rich’ actually ended up paying a higher percentage of the total tax bill than they did before the Bush cuts. Oh, and the number of people paying no tax also increased. For a lib, what`s not to like?

Oh, obviously. You just need to look at the Dow and the budget deficit to see the incredible successes achieved by Bush’s economic and fiscal policies.

  14. Kermit Says:

Well this Middle Class family appreciates the extra $500 per child tax credit that Obama will take away. As part of His “tax cuts” for the 95%.

Yup. That $500 per year will help the economy so much more when it’s spent on Colt 45 and reefer.

  15. penigma Says:

Kermit, claiming things are successful because of the absence of something like “an attack on US soiil” is specious. As far as bias goes, or selective perception, it appears you’ve never met Mitch, or yourself for that matter.

Here’s the thing Kerm, the Saudis were aghast at the success of Bin Laden – I frankly think they sent him a message, namely “NO MORE” or the money goes dry. Regardless, candidly, the changes made by Bush after 9/11 were almost all eyewash, or maybe you think searching 80 year olds, or keeping you from having the 5 oz toothpaste in your bag, actually matter.

His tax cuts were a flop, they didn’t for one moment actually create any real impetus in the economy. Kermit, your reply to me was something akin to saying, in November 1929, that because you don’t see the homeless, or the problems, they don’t exist. This nation is in the midst of the worst economic crisis since 1929 – whether you get it or not. Mitch can call it a ‘cycle’, and dissemble and obfuscate about how ‘it’s just a worse cycle’ all he wants, but that then implies there are NEVER any real economic crisis, they’re all just cycles. Nonsense. Merril Lynch estimated 70% of it’s 720 FICO HELOC holders may default, the US Auto industry is on the verge of collapse, credit card companies are likely to be the next candidates in need of bailout, that is if the airlines or automakers don’t beat them to it. You have the most selective perceptions (collectively) of all of the political persuasions in the country. My ‘selective perception’ has been repeatedly on mark – of course I share that with 70% of the American electorate – over the past 8 years, while yours has been repeatedly wrong. You expected a cake-walk in Iraq, you lumped all Muslims together as ‘terrorists’, you failed to understand the Wahabi movement, you failed to grasp the difference between Suffis and Wahabis, you failed to understand Iraq was/is a secular nation, you failed to grasp how our cavaliier attitude was making it worse, you failed to understand the vast waste of the CPA, you failed to understand the ham-handed nature of Tommy Franks, you failed to understand the impact of uncontrolled security groups, you failed to see the waste in KBR and Haliburton, you failed to see the impact of not securing arms sites, you failed to understand the impact of too few troops, and probably most importantly, you failed to understand the Shiaa suffering and Iranian ability to shape the future in Iraq – and THAT IS JUST IRAQ KERMIT.. So if you don’t like the fact that other people perceive things differently than you, perhaps you should pull your head out of the sand and recognize how profoundly wrong you’ve been. As perceptions go, you’ve been utterly wrong, time and again, so I suppose it’s not really a surprise that you’d find other people who don’t agree with, what’s surprising, is your inability to observe, and your inability to learn.

  16. Kermit Says:

Peev, I only made it thru the third sentence of your dense screed. Just because you declare something “specious” doesn’t make it so. Those of us in the real world look at Kermit, claiming things are successful because of the absence of something like “an attack on US soiil” as results. Reality based. You might want to check it out.

As for Osama, I’m sure a smart guy like you knows his daddy made millions in the construction biz and he could give a rat’s ass what the House of Saud thinks. They “sent him a message” when they kicked his sorry ass out of Arabia, dontcha think?
No wait. that was a rhetorical question.
