These Colors Don’t Run…
By Mitch Berg
…but they may stand around a bit.
Mark your calendars; Saturday is the big sign giveaway at Stephano’s in Eagan.

Here’s why it matters; from Colonel Joe Repya’s press release (I’ve added emphasis):
At noon on September 1, the anti-war crowd claims they’ll have upwards of 50,000 marching from the Minnesota Capitol Building to the Excel Energy Center where the Republican National Convention, at the Excel Energy Center in Saint Paul.
We are asking everyone who supports our men and women in uniform defending America in the War on Terror to line the streets from the Excel Center with our signs. It is our way of being “Minnesota Nice” and wishing these protesters a “nice day in Minnesota.” We encourage no discussion or verbal exchange with the demonstrators – only a pleasant “smile!
So show up!
You can pick up a sign as long as the initial order lasts on Saturday, August 16th, in the parking lot of STEPHANO’S Restaurant, the corner of Highway 13 and Cliff Road (across from Walgreen’s) from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 PM. Please arrive early since we are printing a limited number. Your donations will be greatly appreciated and will allow us to print more signs.
So I’ll see you Saturday afternoon at Stephano’s.
Leave a comment here and/or at the Colonel’s blog if you plan on showing up.

Don’t tell us, Mitch, tell them troop-hating Iraqis:
>BAGHDAD (Reuters) – The United States must provide a “very clear timeline” to withdraw its troops from Iraq as part of an agreement allowing them to stay beyond this year, Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshiyar Zebari said on Sunday.
It was the strongest public assertion yet that Iraq is demanding a timeline. U.S. President George W. Bush has long resisted setting a firm schedule for pulling troops out of Iraq, although last month the White House began speaking of a general “time horizon” and “aspirational goals” to withdraw.
. . .
Asked if Iraq would accept a document that did not include dates for a withdrawal, Zebari said: “No, no. Definitely there has to be a very clear timeline.”
I say, as long as we have the troops there, we do as many regime changes as it takes until we get some boys who’ll play ball.
Then we go after the Russians.

I already addressed and refuted that particular line last week. Please give it a rest.

I mispronounce words? Who knew?
Given your spelling, you’re the one who’s more likely to be mistaken for illiterate white trash. Sorry.

What’s that matter, Peev? Is your blog flatlined already?

Of course it has, Mitch… Peev-migma can only write so many comments on his own blog under the name Haslington… and he can only twist “Shot in the Dark” into so many negative derivations.
And there are only so many ways he can put words in others’ mouths and twist the words of others.
You ought to ban him on a yearly (or biannually) basis. It would be fun. We know he always comes back, but the idea of him fumming until he returns with a new name is always entertaining.

Badda,
Heh.
But I do have reason to believe Hasslington is not Peeve.
Part of me hopes it’s not; that’d be kind of sad, having to adopt a pseudonym for ones’ pseudonym. (shiver).

Of course it has, Mitch
I checked. He’s at around 2-3 posts a week.
Not quite end-stage, but certainly anemic.

Someone else said that a month or so ago… and I surely defer to you folks for that. However, it is just too absurd of an idea… I simply must keep saying it for the sake of the comedy.
Of course, if it turns out to be true I’ll have a new level of pity for our Precious Peev.

Gee, I may have to go to Peev’s site and leave a fifty paragraph comment. Is there a site I can cut and paste from David Copperfield? No wait – Bleak House. Far more apropo.

Kermit
You’re going to post Jarndyce v Jarndyce in 20 monthly installments to Don Preciado’s (peev) Blog?
He has a second poster that calls itself “the18hourmom” that might also be his preciousness under another pseudonym.

That’s not too bad. I didn’t get multiple commentors for quite some time… and even then, it was (apparently) some socialist college kid from the South who hated pencils, and he hated backing up his statements, too.
Hey, Peev! Was that you, too???

What’s that matter, Peev? Is your blog flatlined already?
You’re assuming it had a pulse in the first place.

“He’s at around 2-3 posts a week.”
What’s the matter with that?
Any of them picked up by the AP?
