Safe Predictions

By Mitch Berg

A few things popped into mind as I was listening to the news.

Immigration Is The New War On Women:  I was a captive audience while some CNN show with Soledad O’Brien last night.  She was playing – and re-playing – a series of questions to Romney advisors failing to cough up details of Romney’s immigration plan on demand.  And demand.  And demand.

And demand.

It beats talking about the economy (with its 11% Latino unemployment), I suppose.

He Was A Republican, You Know!: Arne Carlson spoke out, from the midst of spooning with Walter Mondale, against the Voter ID amendment.

Expect to see the media and DFL (ptr) portray this as “an argument within the GOP” on the amendment.

As a Norwegian-American, Tony Sutton’s terming Carlson a “Quisling” was a bit loaded for my taste – but Carlson was a worthless spendthrift of a governor and an even more worthless former governor, and the GOP’s big mistake was in not booting him out of the GOP in 1990.

That’s it for now.

Arne Carlson is just Lowell Weicker with a (slightly) more hair.

Man, the caffeine hasn’t kicked in yet — make that:

Arne Carlson is just Lowell Weicker with (slightly) more hair.

Apologies for the Lawrence Welk version posted earlier.

  3. Kermit Says:

I have not, can not and will not ever have respect for a man that would marry Barbara Carlson. (shudders)

The problem with Carlson is that he wants to stick it to those nasty conservatives who denied him the endorsement in 1990 and lucked into the office when the scandal came pubic and in 1994 despite doing what looked like a good job the conservatives tried to kick him out again and fail. He wants to kick it to conservatives and he sadly thinks he is in the majority.

Mitch, If it were your habit to post “cafe style” posts for your commenters to jabber endlessly about whatever, I’d post this link about Chris Christie and Springsteen.

You don’t, so I’ll put it here. Chances are, you’ve seen it and are busily preparing another post.

    P.S. Your predictions are correct.

I found this in Wikipedia: Jon Grunseth lives on Bruny Island,Tasmania, Australia, and he grows cherries.

I wonder what might have been if he didn’t go skinny-dipping with his ex-wife Jeri Ryan (Yeah I know, that was Jack Ryan)….

  7. Terry Says:

Always remember, kids: making you compete with a foreigner for a job is evil capitalism run amock, unless that foreigner is in the U.S. illegally, in which case it is progressive and compassionate.

  8. J. Ewing Says:

The problem is we keep letting the liberals– Arne included– define the terms of the debate. Voter ID is not “voter suppression” it is “ILLEGAL voter suppression.” Until Arne’s side can prove that voter fraud does NOT occur, which they cannot without voter ID, then we need voter ID just to prove that we didn’t need it. And if we DO find people that shouldn’t vote, then we will prove we DID need it so, to paraphrase our favorite liberal, “we have to pass it to find out if we need it.”

  9. Prince of Darkness_666 Says:

Forgive me if I am wrong on this but did Arne not only not get the GOP endorsement at the convention in 1990, he didn’t get endorsed in 1994 AS A SITTING GOVERNOR and had to go to a primary to even qualify to be listed on the November ballot. Not to mention his DFL-lite style of governing gave your state Jesse because voters, justifiably, couldn’t tell the difference between the GOP and DFL then so they thought they’d try something different.

Arne Carlson is and was a head-patted “Republican”.
    Go away, Arne. Please! Please.
