Is Harold Stassen Available?

Obama is losing ground to every Republican candidate:.
A new McClatchy-Marist poll finds that Obama looks increasingly vulnerable in next year’s election, with a majority of voters believing he’ll lose to any Republican, a solid plurality saying they’ll definitely vote against him and most potential Republican challengers gaining on him.
Even in potential matchups where he leads, Obama in most cases has lost ground to the Republican.
And we do mean any Republican candidate:
The biggest gain came for Palin, the former Alaska governor who hasn’t yet announced whether she’ll jump into the fast-changing race for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.
After trailing Obama by more than 20 percentage points in polls all year, the new national survey, taken Sept. 13-14, found Palin trailing the president by just 5 points, 49-44 percent. The key reason: She now leads Obama among independents, a sharp turnaround.
I still firmly believe that Obama will turn this around – indeed, by next year, if the Democrats don’t gain 2-4 seats in the Senate, flip the House back, and win the presidency with a five point margin, they should feel completely humiliated.
But I’m running out of ways to get from here to that end result.

My fear is that he will announce that he is not running, which will leave a perfect opening for Hilary Clinton to jump in. In case people haven’t been paying attention, the Clinton’s have been very carefully crafting Hilary’s image into a moderate, even right leaning politician. If she does run, the GOP strategy will have to be quickly revamped. Looking at the current field of GOP candidates, I do not believe that any of them could beat her. Once she gets in office, she will reveal her true demonic self and enact her Saul Alinsky driven actions to finish dismantling our country.

I’ve been noticing the shift to She Who Must Not Be Named (Yet); the MSM starting to cover the Obumbles, McCarville saying it’s time to panic, the near total absence of Hillary’s name in the Libya coverage – in fact, hardly any news about her at all. She’ll keep a low profile, taking no fire, and then when the current misbegotten administration is a complete shambles and even Rahm won’t take PBO’s calls, she’ll emerge as the savior.

It’s tough to make predictions, especially about the future–Yogi Berra.
There’s the Harry Truman scenario, but there are others:
LBJ declines to run for another term.
Nixon resigns.
Reagan mops the floor with Carter.
Right now Barack Obama seems to be doing everything he can to either lose his party’s nomination or lose in the election. How much worse do things have to get? I think we’re close to the tipping point. The “Jobs Plan” is populist bait, nothing more. He’s losing the bigshots in his own party. I dislike the idea of a Clinton dynasty, but let’s face it: at least she is competent. I think she can work with the opposition, move the Democrats a couple of ticks closer to the center from the Far left. Wouldn’t be the worst thing. Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

Boss is onto something important. The messaging from the Republicans should be less about Obama’s competence than about the perniciousness of his ideas. People have already figured out that Obama is ineffective, but the point that needs to be made is that a potentially more effective administrator that continues to put forth terrible plans is no improvement.

76 and 2008 were years that any Democrat would have beaten any Republican.
Both years were after Republican administrations that adopted major liberal economic positions. Nixon with wage and price controls, adding the EPA, and of course Watergate. GWB with his prescription drug benefit, NCLB, TARP, and perceived scandals throughout his presidency.
In some ways Carter was a blessing in disguise, Obama, I think will turn out that way as well. We are talking about spending and debt now. We are talking about the Constitution. We are talking about about changes to SSI and Medicare.

boss don’t count on Hillary to be more centrist. She supports the same ideals Barry does. She might be more competent, but that just gets us further down the road Obama and the Clintons want us to go down.

If 0bumbler is primaried and loses, whoever the winning LibRat is, will win in general election. I just hope more Conservatives are elected to legislature and both houses turn R to mitigate the damage.

Another key thing the GOP needs to get on, like yesterday, is getting the message out that this is Obumbler’s economy now! Almost three years later and the majority of polls show that Bush is still being blamed for it.

I hope Republicans continue to push ideas in a postive way, vs just telling everyone what is wrong with The One. That is what is cool about Congressman Ryan. He always seems to be happy as he explains his plan for saving medicare.

One thing about Hillary, if she is like Bill, she will stick her finger in the air to see which policy she should go with on that given day. That is not leadership and we saw how that solved NO major issues in the 90s. By governing on polls, BIll C did some good things with welfare, and some business issues. Unfortunately, the polls told him that few cared about the war on terror, or solving the long term probems with social security, medicare/caid, national debt, so he did nothing about those things, and look where that has gotten us over the past 10 years.

Harold Stasson’s nephew is alive and goes is somewhat active in the Minnesota Republican party (at least he was about 8 years ago). Perhaps we can run him for President. Lives in the South St Paul area.

Well, the good thing, unwashed masses are waking up and polls are turning for the better. Here is just one example: http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/story/2011-09-20/poll-economy-obama/50483094/1?loc=interstitialskip

Anyone who thinks Obama won’t run again hasn’t been paying attention. This is the most narcissistic president probably of all time. Everything, and I mean everything is about Barack the Magnificent. He will run again.
September 21st, 2011 at 12:48 pm
No doubt he will want to run again, but the Party may not let him. They’re already letting him twist in the wind and letting the irrelevant meme go unanswered. Of course, if they oust an incumbent in the primary, it will because they’re rascist, right?
Still, Carter did manage to withstand Kennedy’s challenge and there might be some parallels to the way HRC now and Kennedy then are being positioned, except that in ’80’ Carter was the more “moderate” alternative to Kennedy. Now Clinton is the “moderate” compared to a liberal incumbent. People will buy her as a moderate because they desperately hope she is, or they’ll see her as being more in love with holding power than holding to ideology.

being more in love with holding power than holding to ideology.
Which is exactly why DNC will throw 0bumbler under the bus. They need to hold on to the WH. 0bumbler and his policies are getting increasingly unpopular in the polls, so his personal ability to be re-elected is getting slimmer and slimmer.

I believe that short of Barry going the route of LBJ he will be the candidate. If he is run off the liberal blacks will stay home en masse. Frankly I think Shrill Hill’s days are done and over.

Damned if you do, and damned if you do.

Scott, Bob Dole’s were done and over, but that didn’t stop the Party from nominating him (not that that was a good idea). Is there really any other Dem candidate that is realistic at this point and has an organization in place to run a campaign? (And could you have ever imagined that HRC could ever be considered the least-polarizing candidate the Dems could offer?)
September 22nd, 2011 at 1:18 pm
Good points NW. I’ve been wondering would Barry bench “Dash” in a desperate play and put HRC on the ticket with him? That also begs the question, will lambs bed down with wolves?
