Pawlenty. F*** Yeah!
By Mitch Berg
Tim Pawlenty hits all the right notes in the video announcing his “exploratory committee”.
He’s not the perfect conservative. We know this.
But compared to the rest of the field? We could – and probably would – do worse.
Some lefties titter that he’s “boring”. After two years of “exciting” star power, I think a little “boring” competence sounds like a really really good trait.
(And I don’t get “boring” from Pawlenty. He’s affable, low-key, and pretty much the guy next door. He’s also politically about as sharp as they come. How sharp? He’s a Republican from Minnesota, and yet he’s on the short list for President. Don’t get me wrong; the right, Bachmann and Gingrich, will need to keep him honest to the base. I’m fine with that too).

Of course, the MN Communist, I mean DemonRAT party, had their minions at WDFL TV air their typical “Pawlenty left the state in dismal shape, He didn’t do his job, yada, yada” quotes on this morning’s propaganda spew.

This is why I don’t watch WDFL. Or See BS for that matter.

John Stewart tried to bait T-Paw. In response, not a written speach, but what Pawlenty said in this interview. Shades of Ronald Reagan.
“I think there are a lot of us in the conservative movement who view government — whether it is personalized to Barack Obama or anyone else — as government that crowds into more space that used to be for individuals, that used to be for private markets, that used to be for charity, that used to be for entrepreneurial activity, that used to be for faith organizations,” Pawlenty said. “There are a lot of us who say, ‘you know, that feels like government stepping on us, pushing us to the side.’ There is a continuum between liberty and tyranny, and sometimes it happens very incrementally.”

T-Paw isn’t my favorite candidate, but I’m a conservative. On the other hand, he annoys the left and doesn’t scare the middle, he has remarkably little baggage, he has an everyman look and feel, he has both legislative and executive experience… I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, this election is Pawlenty’s to lose.

Agreed, he’s also sharp, a former governor with eight years experience governing a blue-purple State, a terrific stump speaker, came out of the gate talking about the need to tackle entitlement spending, and would likely help put several normally “blue” Midwestern States into play in 2012.
He’s at the top of my list of likely contenders.

My prediction: TPaw will the VP candidate.

I’m thinking the top of the ticket or not at all. He has more executive experience than Romney, Palin and Gingrich (none of which will be the nominee for obvious reasons), more charisma than Daniels, and Huckabee is a non-starter.

He signed the Twins Stadium Billionaire Giveaway.
Enough said.
