This would be hysterically funny if it didn’t express such uncomfortable truth. Running for and holding elective office at any serious level has become so slime-encrusted that almost no (*) sane and normal person – let alone someone of any real quality – would subject themselves and their family to it.
(*) there are occasional exceptions, of course. But not enough, and for the reasons stated.
