Words To Remember…

By Mitch Berg

whenever the times are as dismal as they are right now…

“…we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender,”

Now, that was a crisis.

Not that Obamacare isn’t.

    Oh boy, new taxes in the middle of the Great Recession! That’s the ticket! Way to go, Owebamma! We’ll get this country rocking now!

    Does anyone see the Democrats NOT losing a ton of seats now? We get taxes right away and little or no benefits for four years. It’s almost like Obama timed this to maximize the losses for his party (although delaying the bennies for four years was the only way to get the CBO to give the bill a score that allowed for reconciliation).

    By contrast, Henry V’s St. Crispen’s Day speech was totally in support of single-payer health care.

    I looked it up.

    ” He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
    Will wait a’queue when this day is nam’d,
    And authorize him to speak at the name of Crispian.
    He that shall live this day, and see cost-effective age,
    Will yearly on drawing rations for the vigil feast his neighbours,
    And say ‘To-morrow is Saint Crispian.’
    Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
    And say ‘These wounds I had on Crispian’s day.’
    The NHS forgot, for two or three years, but eventually
    he pulled some strings with his congressman.
    What feats he did that day. Then shall our names,
    Familiar in his mouth as household words from the education system-
    Khloe Kardashian, Meyer and Simpson
    Obama and Ozbourne, J-Lo and Brangelina
    Be in their portion-controlled cups freshly rememb’red.
    This story shall the government curriculum teach your son;
    And Crispin Crispian shall ne’er go by,
    From this day to the ending of the world or your Cat Scan authorization (whichever comes first),
    But we in it shall be remembered-
    We few, we prozac-popping few, we band of brothers, sisters and gender-indeterminate siblings;
    For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
    Shall be my brother, sister or gender-indeterminate sibling; be he ne’er so a red-stater,
    This day shall make him a Maureen Dowd fan;
    And bureaucrats in England now-a-bed
    Shall think themselves accurs’d they were not here,
    And hold their personhoods cheap whiles any speaks
    That fought with us upon …huh? Take a number? Holy shit, look at that line…”

    Sure enough. Thanks for the tip.

    Nicely done.

  5. Night Writer Says:

    Mitch, you forgot: “King Henry the Fifth, mmm, mmm, mmm…”

  6. Scott Hughes Says:

    “But we in it shall be remembered-
    We few, we prozac-popping few, we band of brothers, sisters and gender-indeterminate siblings;
    For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
    Shall be my brother, sister or gender-indeterminate sibling; be he ne’er so a red-stater,”

    Fun read!!!

    “Then should the Warlike Harry, like himselfe,
    Assume the Port of Mars, and at his heeles
    (Leasht in, like Hounds) should Famine, Sword, and Fire”

    The future of health care? Very appropriate, angryclown.
