Misplaced Priorities
By Mitch Berg
The problem with gun control – one of the reasons that it’s finally stiffing with the American people – is that it burdens the law-abiding citizen for the crimes of society’s low-lifes. It’s one of the reasons America is rejecting gun control; Real Americans can’t abiding punishing those who’ve done no wrong.
Hopefully that same impulse will swallow up this moronic idea:
Lawmakers working to craft a new comprehensive immigration bill have settled on a way to prevent employers from hiring illegal immigrants: a national biometric identification card all American workers would eventually be required to obtain.
Lawmakers working to craft a new comprehensive immigration bill are proposing a new national biometric ID card that would be required of all U.S. workers. WSJ’s Laura Meckler explains the proposal and the objections from privacy advocates.Under the potentially controversial plan still taking shape in the Senate, all legal U.S. workers, including citizens and immigrants, would be issued an ID card with embedded information, such as fingerprints, to tie the card to the worker.
In other words, force each individual American to validate him/herself, rather than deal with the real problems – open borders, and a socialist neighbor whose economy resembles what ours will
The ID card plan is one of several steps advocates of an immigration overhaul are taking to address concerns that have defeated similar bills in the past.http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/588e8cae-2d48-11df9c5b-00144feabdc0.html
Yet again, a cure that’s much worse than the disease.

Let’s keep the Government out of our bedrooms. And our DNA. And keep Rahm Emmanuel out of our showers.

Just like gun crontrol, there’s a perfectly acceptable way to handle this problem already on the books, not being enforced.
When you get hired, you fill out a W-4 for income tax withholding. The Social Security number you write on the form is supposed to match what the government has in its database. If not, the government was supposed to send the employer a No Match letter giving the employer a chance to clear up the problem. If the problem is an illegal alien using a fake SSN, the remedy is obvious. But that law isn’t being enforced so instead we now have this idiotic proposal.

Wasn’t it the Democrats who worried about a national ID card not long ago? Whatever happened to the Right to Privacy?

Next some loon will suggest we tatoo a bar code or identifying number on our arms. Seems to me the Nazi’s did just that.

the 9/11hijackers consisted of19 young muslim men.
The shoebomber was a young muslim man.
The nigerian knickerbomber was young muslim man.
Given that after these terrorists attacks the government went out of its way to NOT subject young muslim men to special screening we can only imagine the uses a national ID card would be put to.

This card could be used to end rampant voter fraud and imprison all ACORN employees!

Terry, how does security discern if one is Muslim or not?

Could. But won’t be.

Actually, I’m looking forward to a National ID card. The feds will hose it up like everything else they touch. I’ll just get a counterfeit the same as any illegals will. Then I’ll start working under the alias and never have to file a 1040 again. I’ll just claim 14 deductions on my W-4 and only pay the 7.5% (15%) ‘FICA’ taxes. The rest I keep with no federal record of ever making it under my old name. WT h*ll. I think I’ll even go on unemployment / welfare for a few years because my real name will be out of work.
FU Federal! HA!
