Shot in the Dark

Hennepin By Gaslight

The smartest woman in the world, decided to sound off about crime in the District of Columbia:

we’re starting to see this, along with “a little bit of crime is one of the things you put up with to live in a major city” – the kind of gaslighting rationalization used by the class that ran New York City before Rudy Giuliani took over.

it’s really very Orwellian: convincing an entire population that crime = normality, and seeking normality is the aberration.

and you’re seeing plenty of this from the Minneapolis booster crowds, in between their videos of crowds of people at street fares and families riding around the placid lakes far from the centers of crime; here you go, I’m a Republican tough guy from Maple Grove with your F350; here’s crime-ridden Minneapolis”, as if two things cannot only be possible, but be possible around the corner from each other.

I pity the next Democrat moron, who tries any of this with me.

Okay, let’s see Hillary ride the midnight train without her security detail.

    From Wilfred Reilly:

Ending crime and unwanted migration was always as simple as it seemed to you and your buddies at the bar or on the track.

A great, great deal of mid-wit noise was made to disguise this.

This is true for most things.

As for H!llary, a couple of tweets from the American AF account (@iAnonPatriot).

    1) Is Hillary Clinton really DEFENDING rampant crime in cities..!?

    This is absurd!!

    2) Not a single African American protesting a safe Washington DC. I saw a tweet from a black guy in Chicago asking Trump to send the National Guard there next.

Hillary, dear, it’s time for a refresher, Poli Sci 101. What is the core function of a city? To collectively protect residents from harm, specifically:
    – prevent disease through safe drinking water and sanitary sewer.
    – military defense from outsiders.
    – protect homes from fires
    – protect residents from criminals

If your city govermnent cannot control crime, it is failing one of its essential functions. It does not need excuses, it needs replacement.

    My favorite part:

    “without incident”

You know… she could have just left it at, “that literal schoolchildren navigate every day” – but no, Hillary is incapable of simple honesty.

In 2024, the murder rate in the District was 27.3/100,000, about five times the national average, and about the same as that of Detroit. Given that we need to transact our federal government there, as well as do our foreign policy, is this acceptable?

She’s not scurred, or tired. After all, she’s landed under fire in a war zone before.

I tried asking Google how many kids were shot in DC in 2024.
The A.I. said 2. It also said that they were in separate instances, and one of them was part of a 6 gunshot victim incident.
I find those numbers hard to believe.
A headline from last year says 2 kids were shot in on particular incident in 2024.
Another headline says over 40 people under 18 have been shot in DC in 2025.

Not every school child received Chelsea’s Secret Service security detail on her way to heavily secured private school.

The entire vibe has turned into “black and brown peoples’ cultures are different than ours and it’s racist to deny them their boisterous fun!”

Well, my culture values return fire.

People who say “a little crime is expected in a city,” really just means poor communities are the ones forced to live with it. And luxury developments isn’t the progress that either side believes it to be, either. Look safe does not equal actually safe. Real safety comes when small business owners invest, live in the neighborhood, and people take pride in their community. In most cases, business owners would like some assurance that safety is a priority of the city in order to invest. But I have my doubts that any current tough on crime policies will target the right areas or the right activity at this time. Until everyone can get back to agreeing with the points Bigman made on the function of city government, we’ll be in this cycle of resisting anything just because the other side said it.

I forgot an important one . . . Roads. Farm to market, laborer to workplace, consumer to seller, sturdy reliable transportation routes are essential to densely populated communities. POTHOLES and PLOWING, people, they ARE the job.

In fact, you might just want to refresh your recollection of Monty Python’s “Life of Brian” in the scene “What did the Romans ever give us?” It’s all there.

    Homework assignment:

    Go to shorpy dot com.

    Search “Baltimore 1950”; “Detroit 1952”

Then say “living in a big city means putting up with crime”

You know when the decline of Northern cities began? In 1942.

Blacks went North for jobs. Free of the restraints put upon their behavior in the South, their children began to run wild. The civil rights act took all the safeties off, and by 1965, Northern cities were well on the way down the drain.

    Those are the facts.

Kleagle Swiftee, a.k.a. Radley, would do well to remember that there was a surge in crime in the cities (and elsewhere) a long time before the second Great Migration due to Prohibition, and there was quite a bit of organized crime for at least half a century prior to that.
