First Day Of Summer!

By Mitch Berg

And it’s time for one of the great new Minneapolis summer traditions (X thread):

One apparently dead, five more shot, and one woman injured in the brawl that inevitably followed at Hennepini County Hospital.

Early reports say it was ELCA vs. Missouri Synod.

Those nice people from Wayzata who apparently don’t have facilities to hold their own graduation (960 is a lot), decided to use Mariucci arena at the U. Big mistake.

Are people in the second ring suburbs really this clueless about Mpls?

It has been reliably reported to me that this youth was turning his life around to be a role model for his 3 children. His relatives said he was planning to enroll at the U in the fall and was contemplating a job at one of the cannabis stores on Lake Street. Mary Moriarity given this information has decided not to press charges citing the suspect’s future transformation and the fact that as he is under 25, his brain is not completely developed. No word on the victims–if you can call them that.

Half a mile from Target Field–if that’s NE, that’s barely. I’d almost say downtown. Will be interesting to see what led to this. Maybe I’m weird, but generally on a nice summer night, I don’t go out intending to get a bunch of people killed.

Research indicates that the male brain does not fully develop until around the age of 28. This development primarily concerns the prefrontal cortex, which is crucial for decision-making, impulse control, and planning.

    Okay………….

So why are we releasing violent undeveloped brains upon the public?

Why not keep them incarcerated until their brain is mature?

    Seems reasonable to me.

I have a relative that lives very close to that area. It used to be a nice place to walk the dog, eat/drink in NE and St Anthony Main. Being life long Minneapolis residents, I wonder how long they will put up with this.

FRESCHFISCH: Given the downplayed comments I see from other people who live in Minneapolis (“you’re just paranoid, everything is fine, it’s not that bad”), most likely they won’t leave or even acknowledge the problem until/unless they are personally affected by the violence.

    Isn’t that Sammi turf?
