And then I see things like this:
NEW – Lego can be "anti-LGBT" because the bricks have "male or female parts" that are made to "mate" with each other, says Science Museum in London — Telegraph pic.twitter.com/IDGOePyZrR

The widespread insanity in the UK is really world class. I don’t think many other countries can put on display this much high quality weirdness like they can in the UK. OK, maybe Australia or NZ, but the UK is the mother lode.

No more designating parts male or female?
This is going to cause a panic in the plumbing department at Menards.

Oh, this stuff is real.
In the software world, there really was a successful push in many of the more insane projects to replace the “master/slave” labels with more PC terms (e.g. twitter, MS’s Git, and particularly those bleeping idiots directing python). But as a general rule, software is far more liberal/insane than hardware because it has less contact with reality.
In actual engineering (and I refuse to call writing software “engineering”), the push hasn’t been successful.

The UK is lost and unrecognizable.

Just for reference, the Babylon Bee predicted this in 2021:

Same with fasteners and electrical connectors. Not to mention sockets and ratchet drivers. (Granted, I’ve never heard a socket called the “female” and the ratchet tip called the “male”, but the physical interface has the same properties)
