Your Fault
By Mitch Berg
I have this annoying tendency to presume that people aren’t generallly trying to be as*holes.
So when this LA firefighter says (at :14) that she “might not be able to carry someone’s husband out of a fire” because he “got himself into the wrong place…”
…I’m going to presume she means someone in the middle of an actual pool of flame might be out of luck.
Now, the whole idea that people want someone who looks like they do to save them?
(Sound of Mitch stifling an uncharitable juvenile snark)
And with that I have no more to say…

Employing the “it’s your own damned fault” justification for failing to act. I like it. I like it so much, I’d like to see it applied broadly elsewhere.
Hey Hamas, you know that genocide you’re always complaining about? It’s your own damned fault.
And you Ukes, those Russians taking away half your country? It’s your own damned fault.
And don’t even get me started on you, Mexico. Oh yeah, the wall is coming, and tariffs with it, and you know what? It’s your own damned fault.
As for you, California In Flames . . . .
Wow, this is awesome. How come I didn’t know about this years ago?

I wonder if/how she would carry a fat lesbo couch potato over 2 bills out of a fire? Or a 6-4, 215′ tranny?

Yeah, like every 110 lb woman wants to be rescued by a 110 lb woman.

Greg;
Or having a 110 lb female show up to your domestic assault call to 911, instead of a couple of 245 lb LEOs.

I like the video of her waddling to her next task. Now while I don’t think that every firefighter should be able to perform like, say, a starting linebacker for a D1 or NFL team, I do think there ought to be some physical qualifications. I’m reminded of my dad’s quip that he’s able to tell how long a Chicago cop has been on the force by his belt size–because for a long time, there was one physical exam at the beginning of their careers, and after that, he could just eat donuts.
But that said, the attitude “well, you got yourself into this situation” ought to be just as disqualifying as a lack of physical fitness. Any good firefighter ought to know that in a situation like the one they’re (not?) dealing with, there are a lot of people who get into trouble through no fault of their own.
