Let’s look at the authors of this piece:

Evan Davis was editor in chief of the Columbia Law Review and David Schulte was editor in chief of the Yale Law Journal. Both clerked for Justice Potter Stewart. Davis is a New York lawyer who served as president of the New York City Bar, and Schulte is a Chicago investment banker.

    Kinda explains it all.

How about we abolish all law schools since they are about as socially useful as gender studies departments?

Why should taxpayers be asked to fund something that makes life more expensive, difficult and aggravating?

I’m old enough to remember when trying to through out Electoral College votes was insurrection and grounds for Impeachment if done by an elected politician.

  3. J. Ewing Says:

Methinks their plan has a fatal flaw. The Constitution disqualifies based on insurrection, and Trump (as well as NO J6er) has been convicted or even charged with insurrection. I suppose we could pass a law saying nobody could be a lawyer if they spouted such obvious stupidity, but then we would have a shortage of lawyers. BTW, we have 14x the lawyers per capita of Japan, and they seem to get along fine.

  4. SmithStCrx Says:

By their logic, no politician is eligible for reelection because the government is so far beyond the bounds of the Constitution, and those politicians either voted for unconstitutional bills or “merely” enforced those bills.

The Advisory Opinions podcast hosted a couple of guests on both sides of this issue back when it was first proposed and Colorado was attempting to make extra sure that the Democrat won the State’s EC votes. The guy that was arguing against this tactic responded to the argument that the Amendment is “Self Enforcing” with damned near laughter. A piece of paper has no agency to self enforce anything, much less declare someone guilty of Insurrection.

We all know how the left’s calls to banish the EC would reverse if, like in 2024, a non DemoCommie won with it. Of course, the best outcome happened this year when Trump won with both measures.

So, they’d like to inaugurate JD Vance?
