Your Tax Dollars At Work

By Mitch Berg

I consider Dennis Prager, if not a friend in the classic sense, at least a good acquaintance.

Most decent people wish him all the best in his apparently extended recovery.  If your worldview calls for prayers, they’re being welcomed.

I specified “decent” people because…

…well…

Lakeville schools’ response was predictable enough:

Alpha News contacted District 196 for a response, and Communications Director Janet Swiecichowski provided the following statement:

“District 196 is aware of the post. The employee’s post does not reflect the values or opinions of the district. The district is reviewing the matter, but we cannot comment on personnel matters.”

Now, I’m not one of those people who tries to destroy the lives of disagreeable, venal people.  I don’t want her getting fired – partly because that’s kinda bitchy, and partly because there’s some moral symmetry to the social consequences that should follow this sort of tantrum.

I love dishing up those consequences, personally.

Since I pay taxes to 196, I just called to tell them how mad I am. Didn’t get through except to leave a message. I managed to avoid using any words that end in ‘ucker.”

I personally am not a fan of involving a person’s workplace in something that’s not workplace related. She’s entitled to her opinion, even if it is evil.

With that said, when the enemy starts shooting at us, they should probably be prepared for us to shoot right back. I have no qualms about fighting fire with fire, and the left invented the tactic of “canceling” people for opinions they don’t like.

And the fact that she’s a public school teacher and is very likely sharing her views with her students makes it entirely appropriate.

Found her LinkedIn, and she’s had seven jobs since August 2003, five of which were contracts for one year or less. She lasted almost seven years in Minneapolis and is in her sixth at Rosemount/Apple Valley. In 2004/5, 2006-9, and 2016/17, she had prolonged time off. LInkedIn does not tell whether that’s time off for having kids, or because she wasn’t getting job offers. At any rate, her employment history does not suggest she’s a shining star.

Can’t speak to what footing she has in her current job, but I would not be altogether surprised if this became “the last straw” there. I would at least hope that a superintendent or principal would take her aside and say “you cannot be wishing harm on people for small offenses, or else parents are going to seriously get the creeps at your presence in their children’s school!”

Sorry, Mitch, but I’ve become a little more ruthless over the past six or so years. I think this moron should at least be suspended, without pay, for at least two weeks and should have to issue apologies to Mr. Prager, the students and the residents of Lakeville. Then, I think she should have to be put in a straight jacket, then put in a chair of the main hallway of her school. Well, not really on the last part, but if woke teachers saw that this type of punishment awaited them for being stupid, they might think twice.

Didn’t Emery lecture us that we had a right to say anything we want but we had to accept the consequences? Ooookay.

No more pizza delivery. Not welcome in the nail salon. Voted out of the church. All her calls go to voice mail, nobody picks up. Pickets outside her home. Leaflet the neighborhood with her tweet. Ask the school to assign a classroom monitor to make sure students don’t feel unsafe, and offer counseling to those who do.

Nothing illegal. Nothing violent. No government action. Just private people exercising their first amendment right to decline to associate with her. Who could object to that?

I don’t necessarily want her to be fired, but she should NOT be teaching our kids.

Okay, nevermind, I guess I DO want her to be fired – from teaching.

I think a suitable solution when Dennis recovers is to have him visit Kersteter’s school and debate her in the auditorium to enhance the learning of students and the faculty.
