The Big Gotcha

Walter Hudson is a first-term representative from Albertville. He’s been in the minority his entire legislative career – so has been able to have relatively little legislative impact.
And. yet the DFL is spending a lot of effort trying to sandbag him – clipping one of his speeches out of context (maybe more on that next week, and possibly on the show this weekend)…
…and this:
Let’s forget for a moment that this is the party whose leader, Tim Walz, had this to say about a clearly senescent Joe Biden…
…scant weeks before joining the team that defenestrated the POTATUS for being to senile to campaign (but not hold the nuclear football until late January).

Changing the subject to how awful the democommies are doesn’t change the fact that Mr Hudson played the fascist card in its oh-so modern guise for I don’t like him. What a disappointment.
He’s not my rep – although close by – but if he were, I’d still happily vote for him. The DFL can kiss my a55. In contrast to so, so many other voters on my side, I understand that policy is the only thing that matters in politics.

And when Walter put on the MAGA hat during Trump’s Presidency, he acknowledged that he was changing his position. It was done in the open on his then radio show. Walter never tried to rewrite history. There was no 1984 type “I’ve always been MAGA.” Walter also talked, at length, about the good things that Trump did to change his mind while NOT doing the terrible things that we were afraid he was going to do. Another thing that heavily influenced Walter’s very public change of support was just how BAD the Democrats were acting at that time (and it’s only gotten worse). Lots of us hoped that the Democrats would’ve taken the lesson of 2016 to heart and moderated. Instead, they doubled down on their own crazy and then won in 2018, 2020, and 2022, so now they’re going all in.
Due to the nature of American politics, when one of the two primary parties goes nuts, unless a third party arises to quickly take its place, that allows the other primary party to also go nuts. That’s largely where we are now. Neither Party has a good economic track record and we just keep hurtling towards a fiscal cliff. The GOP isn’t good on the issue, but the Democrats are exponentially worse. Foreign policy provides a better contrast. The GOP is generally good on foreign policy while the Democrats would make Neville Chamberlain proud with their appeasement and the current s#!+ storm that might be the opening salvos of WWIII.
But don’t worry, a single State Rep from Minnesota from a safe district is a terrible threat to our State and must be targeted at all times.

Yea, that totally un self aware p.o.s. Ken Martin gives a press conference saying that the GOP should condemn Hudson’s comments. If I were Walter, I would have clapped back, “when you censure Nicole Mitchell and make her resign, you might have some credibility. Until then, STFU, moron!”

Part of the reason they’re making such an example of him is partially emotional and partially retributive. He comes out and slaps them upside the head with blunt facts and realism (for social issues, particularly trans issues). He doesn’t mince words and isn’t namby-pamby like a Jim Abeler would be. Therefore he must be made an example of and they’re pointing their full stock of rhetoric/narrative cannons at him. They’re hoping to do a Michelle Bachmann on him and try to cause 17% of the low-info voters in his district to become disillusioned with him.

He should say:”In 2016, I feared Trump would become a fascist. Democrats aren’t lying about that, I said it. But my fear was misplaced. He did not become a fascist when he was in office and I do not believe he will be one when he is reelected next month. Democrats ARE lying about that. I stand with Trump.”
