WUPHs: It’s Not Just Minneapolis

By Mitch Berg

In 2015, I spent some time in Detroit on a business trip.

And even then, before Covid, downtown Detroit felt…vibrant.  Fun.  There was stuff going on in the evening.   There were places to go, things to do, people around and about.

Companies were paying people good money to buy or rent downtown and walk to work.

Things felt pretty decent…

…in about a square mile downtown. [1]

Go outside that square mile or two and it became…well, Detroit.

But I come not to praise Detroit, but to bury WUPHs – White Urban Progressive Homers, people who tie their identities so close to their cities that it squeezes out all humor, and all thought itself.

It’s not smack. It’s actual journalism, when referring to the ravages of two generations of non-stop corrupt Democrat governance on a city.

Like Detroit.

Or, if things keep going as they are, Minneapolis.

[1] I have no idea how Covid might have affected that state of affairs, but I’m not optimistic.

    Whitmer is just another wanna be dictator. One must remember that chicken shit elitists like her, are surrounded by state troopers, everywhere they go, so they can talk tough.

    To your point Mitch, New Orleans is the same way. If you go two blocks outside of the French Quarter at night, in any of three directions, you’d better be in a large group.

    I’ve never really paid any attention to her before. She’s gonna be a dangerous politician. Sly, well-spoken, radical, all wrapped up in the garb of a mom next door… she would’ve beaten Trump easily and she’ll probably handle anything the Republicans can throw at her.

    Why isn’t she running (wasn’t she selected to run) against Trump?

  3. SmithStCrx Says:

    JDM,
    She wasn’t selected this time because her name wasn’t already on the Biden Campaign bank accounts and FEC reports. The Democrats couldn’t legally transfer the existing war chest to her.
    She has been positioning herself to run in 2028 for quite awhile though. If elected she’d be a disaster. On the bright side, I console myself with recent electoral history. The early favorite generally fails to win their own Party’s Primary. I remember when Harris was the next big thing and the odds on favorite in 2019, and she didn’t even last until the Iowa Caucus. Also, I think Whitmer will stumble on the national stage similar to the way Walz is performing.

    Boss,
    In many ways, Whitmer is even more of a tyrant than Walz was. While she allowed certain Big Box stores to remain open during Covid, she required them to block off certain aisles if they didn’t contain essential items. We didn’t have to do that under Walz. IIRC, she also had boat launches closed, while her husband was trying to get preferential treatment to get their own boat summerized. There’s actual audio of him telling the mechanic that he’s the governor’s husband and would that make a difference in their work schedule. I expect that audio to “resurface” if she runs for POTUS.

    Smith;
    Yea, I remember that deal with her husband. To his credit, he let it go after the marina person told him that they had to honor the customers that were first.

    Honestly Biden owns this if Harris loses. He should never have run again, he must’ve know he isn’t up to it, and he should have allowed a proper primary to play out to select the strongest candidate against Trump. No one seriously believes Harris is that candidate.

    That is exactly the plan that James Carville layed out in his initial interviews with Maureen Dowd in the NYT. And Biden and the donor class-sponsored White House staff short-circuited the democratic process. The Democrats no longer trust a majority of the American people which is why there is no majority to support what was once the people’s party.

    First Pen, now Emery. Who’s next?

  8. Emery Says:

    Whitmer was always my 1st choice against Trump.

    As an aside — If Harris loses PA we’ll know she made the wrong choice of VP candidates. My preference would have been Shapiro. Walz is/was not ready for the bright lights. But who knows — I have no idea which party wins this election. Although I will say, I’d rather be Harris than Trump–especially in terms of the ground game…

    Good fricking lord. What the hell is wrong with you?

    Speaking of third world s*** holes there’s a power outage in Cuba and a hurricane bearing down on the island. Why aren’t we preparing an invasion to liberate them from the communists?

    cosmic;
    Simple explanation. Emery, like the majority of leftist sheep, are too lazy and frankly, too stupid to see what the ultimate goals of the DemoCommies actually are. They need someone to tell them what to do, how to live and what people they should hate. They love that the losers they support, are whizzing on their shoes and have convinced them that it’s raining.
