Complaints

By Mitch Berg

Read this assortment of complaint letters received by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority about their tollbooth collectors.

And then remember that this is the level of commitment that the Dems want to bring to your healthcare.

See you at the next Tea Party.

I didn’t read all of the complaints; did they have this one?

Patron pulled up to toll booth with sense of urgency, only to see the T/C duck down out of sight. Patron thought T/C had perhaps dropped a coin. T/C was replaced by machine-gun wielding goons.

As a person who drives the NJ turnpike roughly every other month, I can report that I have not had a bad experience with any toll collector. I was recently asked by a PA t/c if I had anything smaller to pay a 75 cent toll than a $5 bill. When I replied that I didn’t (I would have given him a buck if I had it) he kind of grumbled, but gave me the change without further incident.
The bigger issue, IMO, is the astronomical toll increases the state gubments have levied on the folks. When I first started traveling to the land of youse guyse and ehhh-fugged-about-it roughly three years ago, I was dropping about $20 for a weeks worth of travel around the PHL-NJ-NYC region. Two weeks ago, I spent nearly $35 to drive on the same routes and cross the same bridges.
Corzine believed that to raise money, you just raised tax rates and fees and the dough would just roll in because behavior wouldn’t change. Chris Christie leveled that argument in a speech last week that still has Trenton quaking when he pointed out that even with all the rate and fee increases, NJ took in less money due to people heading for the exits.
