Decay

By Mitch Berg

Minnesota’s gross domestic product growth – which has long run far ahead of national averages – isn’t anymore:

I’ve been observing this for a while now – when I decided to move to Minnesota, the state was simultaneously a mecca of opportunity in the Midwest, a place that Fodor Travel Guides called “The Athens of the 20th Century” in a fit of not-excessive hyperbole – that was nonetheless modestly affordable for a 22 year old guy with a BA in English, as opposed to an MBA or a software engineering degree.

And that is just not true anymore.

And it might seem rote and predictable to follow that with “and it’s the DFL’s fault”.

But, honestly, who else has been driving the ship for the past 16 years?

Oh, well. As Kate at smalldeadanimals might say, it’s probably nothing. I mean, think about it, we have unlimited abortion. And we’re the tranny capitol of the upper Midwest. Things balance out.

    This report puzzles me

I would have thought the women’s sports bar in Minneapolis would have made up The deficit all by itself

But Minneapolis is the happiest city! So happy it doesn’t need a full complement of police officers! This is a good thing because police candidates aren’t exactly lining up to apply to work in one of the happiest cities. And we all know, if Minneapolis is happy, then Minnesota is happy, too! Who needs to make money as long as you’re happy?
