Your Mission For Today
By Mitch Berg
If you live in District Six in Hennepin County – this area here…:

…you need to get out and vote Marisa Simonetti for Hennepin County Commission in the special election being held today.

She’s an unknown conservative who ran in the runoff three weeks ago, spent about $700, and got 33% of the vote with no name recognition, running against Mary Moriarty’s spouse and at least one candidate who spent $70K to try to build name recognition, in a runoff. That took her to the final round, today:
Her opponent is Heather Edelson – a sitting Legislator whose sole “accomplishment” was writing a bill that would have banned gas powered lawn mowers in the state. “Lawncare Barbie” has name recognition – and literally nothing else.
Simonetti’s a dark horse – but given the tiny turnout in these special elections for county races, anything is possible.
So:
- If you live in the area in the map above – basically all of Henco south of 394 and west of 169 – get to the polls. Bring your family. Extort your kids. Whatever it takes.
- If you don’t live in this district, make sure any family you do have in the area turn out and vote for Simonetti.
This would really shock the world.
So let’s do it

I hate to say it, but I have a feeling the more densely populated, bluer parts of Edina and the Eastern half of Minnetonka will prevail over the more monied, but far less densely populated parts surrounding Lake Minnetonka.

That’s entirely likely, Bill.
The main hope here is that the customary single-digit turnout for county-level special elections might be a decent chance for a dark horse to get motivated people to come out and vote.

Folks in Henn Co should . . . Vote Harder.
Sorry. Couldn’t resist.

My wife & I voted for Simonetti. I have encouraged conservative friends and their families, too!
It would be a rare win.
Fingers crossed…

Well, the low information idiots that want government to control their lives, elected Lawn Mower Woman.
On another note, my polling place wasn’t open yesterday. The last time I checked, I’m paying taxes in HennCo. Did I miss something?

Boss,
Looking at it another way – a sitting two-term DFL legislator with 100% name recognition beat someone nobody had heard of three weeks ago, who spent less on her campaign than Edelson spends for a week of Pilates.
By nine points.
In Hennepin County.
Not sure it’s all bad news.

Well, the low information idiots that want government to control their lives, elected Lawn Mower Woman.
I will be buying a new ICE lawn mower this summer, and it will sit in its box until our current one (~2005 Lawn Boy) dies beyond repair. I would advise everyone else to do the same, so you don’t have to drive to Superior/Hudson/Sioux Falls/Fargo the next time you want to buy a lawn mower, if you don’t want to be stuck with battery power.

Not only to pre-empt lawn mower woman’s potential legislative attempt next session, but to pre-empt the direction the whole industry seems to be heading. Home Depot and other big stores that sell lawn mowers are very obviously pushing battery mowers. Those are all front and center with many choices. ICE mowers are offered with fewer choices and farther back in the displays.
