So Let’s Talk

Re: Conversation

Governor Klink Walz,

Last week, you said that “old white men need to learn how to talk about abortion“.

“I think old white men need to learn how to talk about this a little more,” Walz told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins. “And I think the big thing is: Listen to women. Listen to what they’re saying. We’ve seen that when we listen to them, they’re speaking loudly and they’re speaking at the ballot box.”

OK – one life-hardened caucasoid to another, let’s do.

So let’s establish this: human rights don’t interfere with other rights. If something interferes with a human right, it’s not a right. An infringement, an entitlement, even a moral duty? Perhaps. But rights don’t interfere with rights.

So here’s the question: at exactly what age did your, little Timmy Walz’s, right to live supersede Darlene Walz’s “right to choose”? And why then?

At birth? You were no different at 40 weeks than you were at 36. So you weren’t a human at 36 weeks – unless you got delivered by caesarean, in which case you were? Babies delivered at 36, even 30, weeks survive routinely and without much drama to become fairly normal children.

Doesn’t seem logical.

You were no different at either of those points than you were at 26 weeks, really – and today that 26, even 24, week old baby has really good chances of surviving.

All of the options above have scientific and logical issues.

So – when did you become human?

Not some abstract “clump of cells” in some generic “woman”. Tim and Darlene Walz.

When?

I’ll save a seat for you on my show Saturday.

“Hey, Republicans – that’s just a great line to take in an election year”.

Coulda said the same thing about Slavery in the 1860 election, couldn’t we?

In the alternate universe where Gov. Walz would deign to sit in the seat you offer, Mitch, I think we can predict what he’ll do: Argue that he personally doesn’t advocate for abortion, but he supports a woman’s choice. Making it personal rarely works on leftists, as they either reframe the discussion as “Why are you opposed to x? It’s not hurting you!”, or “You don’t know my truth!” (in other words, inject emotion in an argument where facts were expected).\

Arguing with leftists makes me feel I’ve just called a tech-support call center, and they’ve got their handy flowchart in front of them. As soon as they fail to corner you on one branch, they pivot: Name-calling, citing some study or opinion piece that supports their views, etc.

I’d point out to Gov. Walz that “old white men” often have the benefit of a lifetime of experience and wisdom, especially when it comes to arguments regarding biology.

So, this shtick where Wally pretends to prostrate himself at the feet of supporters of child murder is where we are as a state. Jeebus. Is this dufus disgusting or what?

I don’t get into the abortion issue with people anymore. Everyone is largely in their own corners or they’ve consciously buried their head in the sand in the name of “moderation.”
If they insist, I lay out the situation for them without sugar coating it. I’m Pro-Life because I acknowledge that a fetus IS a human life. As you said Mitch, it’s a baby. The opposition doesn’t acknowledge that it’s a human life.
I then offer the other person to accept my assertion that it is a baby and they can give me their best reason why it should be killed for the mother’s convenience. They may respond with the ectopic pregnancy straw man, or the more generic “health of the mother” claims (no mother’s health issue requires abortion. It may require early delivery). Very rarely does the person acknowledge my premise and still justify murder.

One might joke that Walz was a human being worthy of life until about a decade ago, when he became a progressive.

Regarding listening to women, it strikes me that the women who count most are those who are having children of their own, because that is the wave of the future. Those women tend to be overwhelmingly pro-life. Just sayin’.

Also worth noting is that about 60% of prenatal infanticides are the chemical kind, which means that the “critical mass” of abortion is degenerating by the day. Planned Infanticide relies more on subsidies and donations than ever, and if we end up ending those subsides, we are coming awfully close to ending the whole enterprise.

I got into it with a male abortion advocate a week ago. It got pretty heated and thought that he was going to assault me, especially after I told him that the only reason that he was a baby killer, was because he is a misogynist. I told him he wanted to make a woman responsible for contraception and he still wanted an get out of jail free card if he knocked up a partner. Several people around me, including some women that I didn’t know, laughed at the guy and he stormed out of the bar.

  6. John "Bigman" Jones Says:

An unborn child is a human being, homo sapiens. Check the DNA. It’s conclusive. The science is settled on that part.

What’s not settled is what rights various human beings are entitled to. A convicted mass murder loses the right to travel freely, to vote, possibly to life itself. In the Old South, Negros had no rights. In Nazi Germany, Jews went to gas chambers; in parts of Africa, women are sex slaves; the science on this is definitely not settled. There is no science, it’s pure politics.

Abortion advocates try to hide politics behind science because they’re on the same side as slavers and Nazis, denying rights to human beings for purely political reasons.

But there’s use telling them so. That only gets you uninvited from swell parties.

  7. Greg Says:

    Listen to women.

    Okay, I’m game.

    One little question.

    Which ones?

I got this funny feeling that there are women out there who Gov. Klink and Kaitlan Collins don’t want me listening to at all.

Gosh, there are probably black, latino, asian and indigenous folks who they rather I not listen to also.

  8. reader15 Says:

If the Governor thinks old, white men need to talk more about it, can I assume he thinks young, black men already have plenty of experience with it?

  9. jdm Says:

I will never again piss and moan about moderation when I see that which Ian experiences. Is it every single one of his comments (moderate, sensible, little or no swearing, no key words that supposedly set off the censor) or just most of them?

What I would love to ask Gov Tim is at what gestational age would it have been ok for Stanley Anne Dunham to abort the future 44th President?

  12. Emery Says:

I have never offered to donate bone marrow or a kidney and I’m sure there are people who are dying right now because mine has not been made available to them.

But I do not consider myself morally depraved or responsible for their deaths. I believe that’s because I am not a misogynist who thinks that women should have less rights over their uterus than I have over my own biological organs.

I am also not a theocrat who believes that fetuses should be more privileged in being entitled to a “right” to other people’s organs (such as a uterus and placenta) that no other organ recipients are entitled to.

But thanks for the moralizing. It makes the pro-choice case (which is winning every time it’s put to the vote) easier and easier to make each time we hear it.

  13. bikebubba Says:

All law is moral law, Emery. You put people in jail and fine them because the state has established that what they did is a moral offense. The trick is to get the morality part right.

And in this case, the baby is a temporary resident of the uterus, not part of it. It’s a good idea to know the difference.

  14. Emery Says:

Smart move in the part of Democrats — bringing attention to the Dobbs decision as well as the Alabama court ruling concerning IVF. Pointing out which party is protecting women’s personal healthcare decisions and which party is not.

It’s about controlling women. It’s about enforcing a religious view on everybody.
