I, Peasant

By Mitch Berg

The GOP controlled US House did its job – passing aid to Israel along with a proposal to slash the funding bounty the IRS picked up during the pandemic.

Ryan Winkler did his job – pimping for Mother Government:

When it was pointed out that hampering the IRS and supporting the IDF were both blows for freedom against tyranny, and that criticizing government is a constitutional right and obligation, while stifling that right is the actual “extreme” view, Winkler…

….well, he Wilnkered:

Where to start?

Once you reject the straw man (no, not “All” laws. Just the stupid an tyrannical ones, by your indulgent leave), just because a law was “validly (sic) enacted” doesn’t make it good.

Jim Crow laws were “valid” – enacted by due process by an elected government. So,, in a sense, were the Nuremberg Laws – the Nazi Party took power until the color of German law.

And I’d ask WInkler if he’d be so sanguine if the IRS was sandbagging the Democrat Socialists of America rather than the Tea Party, but that – either that bit of oppression, or WInkler giving a straight answer to a question, both – are about as likely as Ray Charles getting a called third strike on Kirby Puckett.

So let me guess, where was this IRS largess intended to be spent?

A: On lawyers to combat the stables of high priced lawyers hired by the wealthy to exploit the various tax holiday schemes passed by a compliant Congress?

    or

B: On computer systems to scour the vast sea of small financial transactions to uncover the unreported $30 that Aunt Ira paid you for cleaning the leaves out of her gutter?

Winkler doesn´t argue much better than Emery.

  3. John "Bigman" Jones Says:

Taxation is theft. Tax collectors are accomplices. Targeted theft by government agents against political opponents is Democrat policy dating back at least to Obama. And tyranny as well.

Why wouldn’t Americans be in favor of smashing the thieves operating budget? Why aren’t you, Ryan?

  4. Emery Says:

Every $1 you cut IRS funding will lose about $2 of revenue. So that means this bill would add about $30 billion to the deficit. These are not serious people…

“The legislation would also prohibit the CBO from estimating the bill’s effect on the federal deficit.”

Well that sounds like a great sign that everything’s on the up-and-up. Out of the chute: a deal that has no way of passing the Senate. Might as well go back to no speaker.

  5. bikebubba Says:

As I noted to Emery before, if cutting the IRS budget by $1 only costs $2 in revenue, we have the most inefficient tax scheme since Democrats tried to “soak the rich” and actually reduced tax revenues. If you want a great argument for revoking the Biden IRS funding hikes, there you go.

Keep in mind as well that the “cutting our funding $1 reduces tax revenues by $2” people are the same people who enacted the funding increase, so you really need to take even that with a grain (or shaker) of salt.

  6. Emery Says:

Let me leave you with this…

Rescinding $25 billion of IRS funding would result in the loss of $49 billion in revenue and increase deficits by $24 billion over ten years, according to the CBO.

  8. John "Bigman" Jones Says:

Well then we should increase IRS funding enough to eliminate the deficit completely.

Of course, we don’t have enough money to pay for it so we will have to borrow the money which will increase the deficit

There is a flaw in this plan somewhere, I can’t quite put my finger on it.

^ couldn’t figure out a clever way to say it. Thanks, big guy.

Winkler and Emery long for that post FDR era when rich people paid their fair share!

Like I said, Emery, that’s an incredibly inefficient tax system. Time to reform/end it, not fund it.

Winkler is pimping for *his* government. Neocons are whoring for the foreign government that bought and paid for them…using *my* money.

When it was pointed out that hampering the IRS and supporting the IDF were both blows for freedom against tyranny

    Huh…hang on, brb…
    tyranny
    tĭr′ə-nē
    noun
    Unjust or oppressive governmental power.

Like spying on it’s citizens, or bombing the shit out of civilians?

Well, I can see where our Weimerican government fits the bill…so does the one in charge of the IDF. So, let me get this straight; Patriot’s™ are *against* funding tyranny here at home, but *for* funding it abroad.

    Kool.

Know what you mean…I’ve been trying to get a straight answer to a simple question out of the SiTD Patriot’s™ (including the proprietor) for 2 days now.. About as likely as making a fur coat out of chicken skin.

You could also try cutting spending. But every time Republicans try that, the democrat’s pat response is “YOU RACIST, AGEIST, CHILD-HATING MURDERERS!”

Because they know damn well they have to buy (or manufacture out of mail-in fairies and illegal immigrant pixie dust) the majority of their votes.
