One of the greatest achievements of the modern Big Left is convincing the world, and itself, that the Nazi movement of the 1920s and 1930s was, like today’s “American” “Nazi” party, a movement of ignorant blue-collar and no-collar losers.
It was in fact a youth movement, led by academics and artists. Besides Hitler himself, most of the cabinet that ran Germany from 1933 to 1945, much of the party’s senior leadership were writers, playwrights, journalists, painters and academics.
Same as the Communists before them.

In the final analysis, there are only two types of modern political movements.
The first, ostensibly based on intellectualism and psychological manipulation, has as its goal obtaining the willful consent of the downtrodden masses to submit to their own servitude enforced by unchecked governmental power, for the purpose of supporting the stable perpetuation of the wealth, power, and privilege of the ruling class. This takes many labels such as communism, fascism, and totalitarianism to various degrees and with other euphemistic labels such as socialism, but collectively can also be described as “the left.”
The second is based on the ideal of individual liberty, concordant with the smallest government possible and requires collective consent to strict genuine limits on governmental power and universal acknowledgement of individual human rights that are beyond government control. To create sustainable economics commensurate with free individual human nature, it idealistically relies on capitalism and free markets unadulterated by cronyism and rent seeking, and social institutions that reinforce the exceptionalism of liberty and its concomitant personal responsibilities as a vital life value. This was the impetus behind the idealogical and practical manifestation of the founders of the United States.
Collective unexamined uncritical undisciplined human nature always tends to the first and the wealthy and powerful advocate for it out of desire for effective preservation and perpetuation of their own privilege. The second requires far more effort and mental discipline, is far more economically dynamic and therefore threatening to economic-based privilege, and almost never receives support from the established wealthy and powerful classes.
