…one of those people who doesn’t need food, energy, shelter, or transportation, Paul Krugman’s got great news for you:
And apparently, if you are one of those people who needs those things, you either don’t count or are a failure.

Has Krugman ever said anything intelligent… no, anything that actually reflects reality… ah, never mind, I just figured out why he’s so popular.

Krugman is a great example of what can happen when otherwise competent people become the slaves to an ideology, IMO. Ordinary people without blinders can have some sympathy when they learn that their fellow human beings are having trouble buying food, energy, and shelter, and a way to get to work.

Keep in mind that Paul Krugman won The Nobel Prize for Economics, so if he says food, energy, shelter and used cars don’t matter, they don’t.
Trust the experts. They know stuff.
BTW: Got to love the “used car” thing. I don’t know what it is like in the cities, but cruising through Rochester last weekend, I saw quite a few dealerships with only used cars in their lots. Maybe, order it now – get it next year, is the new thing.
Reminds me of a Soviet era joke:
A Soviet hero of the working class orders a car. “When will it be delivered?” he asked.
“May 21, 2041,” the dealer responds.
“What time of day?”
“Why does it matter?”
“I have a plumber coming in that morning.”

bike;
Yea, elitist sycophants like Krugman, who probably doesn’t even do his own shopping, doesn’t care about the peons.

Everyone knows that Krugman won the Nobel prize for economics.
What they don’t know is that the Nobel prize for economics is not a real Nobel prize. It was endowed by banks in 1968. It is actually called “The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel.”
They also don’t what Krugman did that earned his Nobel.
He explained why most manhole covers are produced locally instead of being imported.

3.7% is more than Okay—been there done that. We can soak up the money printed with interest rate or inflation rate, but it’s not a black or white solution — using too much of either we would crash the economy. I’d say FED is doing a good job given what its capable of and mandated. It should hold the rate steady for now and keep adjusting as we go — basically what they’ve been saying for the last few months.
To these repetitive apocalyptic fearmongers here I’d say, get a bit of a perspective and busy yourselves with other obsessions please.

When discussing statistics, it is essential to understand both the underlying assumptions and the intended audience.
If you assume the statistic relates to someone living in moms basement (who doesn’t buy food, pay the utility bill or drive a car), then it’s probably correct. And if you understand the target audience is liberals, they will nod and accept the claim without question because it affirms their worldview.
The Emery Collective meets both criteria.
